Guava matcha latte!

My friend gave me some ripe pink guava from his backyard. I made purée with it - chopped it up to small pieces, added sugar, squeeze of lemon juice, simmered over the stove and thinned it out with a little bit of water. Layered with Ikuyo matcha and lactose-free milk. Drank out of my favorite cup, Kinto double wall glass

Matcha Waffles 😋

First attempt at matcha waffles. I wanted them to be super green but it didn’t turn out ☹️ Still very delicious though 😄👍

Matcha Powder Reco

Hi! I’ll be visiting Korea soon and planning to buy matcha powder as gifts for friends and family.

I was wondering if anyone has recommendations for good matcha brands or specific products available in Korea? I’m open to both Korean-grown matcha and imported ones.

Also, where are the best places to actually buy matcha powder? (Tea houses, specialty stores, supermarkets, etc.) I’ll probably be in Seoul, so any specific shop recommendations would be super helpful.

Yin & Yang

Today the light played some interesting game and my matcha looked somewhat like the Yin & Yang symbol. Happy day everybody!

how to make ippodo ikuyo less astringent?

Hi all! I’ve recently started drinking matcha, and for my first powder I chose Noritual Labs Original since it was easy to find and fit my budget. Now that I’m almost out, I wanted to try something a bit more premium, so after some research I decided to go with Ippodo Ikuyo matcha.

I’ve been using the same ratios and ingredients as before, 3 grams of matcha, 30 ml of water, and Oatly oat milk infused with Earl Grey tea, plus some white chocolate sauce as a sweetener. I really liked the taste of the Noritual Labs matcha, but the Ikuyo has a strong astringent aftertaste.

I’ve already tried using cooler water and whisking less, but it still leaves a noticeable lingering bitterness. Is there anything else I could try to reduce the astringency?

Unfortunately, shipping was quite expensive, so I bought two 100 g bags at once. I’d really like to make it work if possible. Otherwise, I might try to sell it to someone who prefers this flavor. Does anyone know the best place to do that in the Netherlands/Europe?

MK Kinrin might be my favorite from their line

50g water 4g powder, 110g lactaid reduced fat milk

It retains the matcha flavor well in a cow milk based latte, creamy, and ever so slightly astringent in a refreshing way.

First matcha ever! I’m hooked!

Just some homemade blackberry jam, my favorite oatmilk, teaspoon of agave and bam was so good! I have much to learn but luckily my OCD home barista skills over the past years have given me a foundation of patience 😂

Decided to go with the Ikuyo from Ippodo.

Initial thoughts, my wrist is sore - unsure if my foam is good - and wow the whole setup of creating matcha is really calming and zen compared to me pulling espresso shots 😂
