Resources for Pre-Health Sciences and Passing Courses?

Hello! I am enrolling in the Medical Laboratory Assistant course, then bridging to MLT. I do want to bridge to MLS after.

I am unfortunately quite bad at math, and am working on that. I did not get my HS due to health issues, but am getting my GED as of now before I enroll. I was going to maybe do Pre-Health Sciences before I enrolled, to make sure I am up to speed.

I have never done Chemistry or Biology or Algebra, and am learning it now. So far, I find it quite difficult, but engaging.

This is my biggest dream and goal, and I want to get good at it so I can pass. I do have anxiety, autism and chronic fatigue, so that has been a difficulty, but I have been persevering as I am extremely determined to make this happen. I have a lot of passion for it, and am willing to put in the work.

Any recommendations/tips? Books or resources I could use prior to enrolling, and during, for success? I got a bit nervous, seeing the drop out rate (despite having no wish to drop out), and when I studied Chemistry, because I realized how confusing it was coming off to me. I usually had issues memorizing things like phone numbers, so I worry that will become an issue. I am trying to study in a way I can memorize, but it's still a concern. If there are also any suggestions on what to focus my studying on, or what route I should go, that is welcomed, too.

Thank you. I appreciate this community and everything everyone does here. I am very excited to join this profession.

Hello. This is my dream job, next to mortuary, and the only thing holding me back is the need for night or rotating shifts. I would love a 9-5, daily routine shift, as doing nights and rotating makes my disorders and disabilities worsen and I become ill if up at night, or doing longer than 8 hours. I struggle with heart issues, chronic anxiety, migraines at night and chronic fatigue amongst other mental disorders that worsen at night, which would get in the way of my work.

Is there any way I could work a public clinic, or something else that is 9-5, with a MLA or MLT diploma/degree permanently? I am very interested in the work, and love science.

Thank you for any input. I am just quite heartbroken hearing about the night shifts and on-call manner of it, as it just isn't something I am able to do with my cards dealt. I am extremely passionate about it, however. Any help or suggestions is super appreciated.

Hello.

For those here, I was curious what a good route for a medical job regarding informatics, or something that can be done remotely or on a computer (more stationary) is? I am disabled and have been looking for jobs in the medical field, but realizing the more 'physical' ones like nursing is not a good route for me with my disabilities. I was looking at HIM, but now see that isn't a great idea. Would a bachelor's to master's in Healthcare Admin with undergrad or minor in IT, finance or business a good idea, or an MBA with focus on health and some other minors/electives? I am just worried about the AI sector, and the probability of a stable job market. I sadly do not have clinical experience.

Thank you very much.

Hello,

being a dental hygienist is currently what I really want to do, and have been interested in for awhile.

I am working on my prerequisites and trying to get my grades up as high as possible. I am someone who has a lot of attention to detail and good coordination, with a lot of experience in artistry and hands-on detail work. I also love science, biology, and have always had an interest in dental and teeth since I was young.

One issue that frightens me, is my eyesight. I cannot legally drive due to it; mainly due to peripheral vision issues on my righthand side. I am 85-90% blind in my right eye, and have most if not full 20/20 vision in my left. I can see from the distance away you must be for dental hygiene, but I likely would not be able to see small detailing too well at that distance. I was thinking of getting a loupe, and I know that combined with good lighting would make it just fine.

I am just worried that I will be 'made fun of' or 'looked down upon', or maybe considered disadvantaged in my program? I am willing to work hard to perfect the craft, and the loupe would help me a lot, as well as having screens closer to me if possible. My college is willing to accommodate, but it does make me worry that I will be 'lesser' in the eyes of professors or fellow classmates.

I really do not want to give up on my dream. I am very invested in this career for my future. Backup is nursing, however, I cannot work nights due to it disturbing my health. I am unsure how I could avoid nights altogether as a nurse.

Thank you for any tips/advice or insight. I appreciate it. I am going to get my eyes checked another time, to make certain what the state is of my sight.

Hello! I have some general questions.

I am new to constructing clothes and using patterns, but I do like designing fashion pieces and drawing up outfits that are unique. Latex is my favorite material, and I want to specialize in gothic and latex pieces. Particularly masks and accessories, but all pieces I would like to learn.

What are the best online courses or books for learning to work with latex, and how to measure/cut and properly glue/construct to make wearable pieces?

Also, where is a reliable place to get the tools and latex/materials for making latex clothing? Or things like spikes, zippers and metal rings/studs? I live in Ontario, Canada.

Thank you!
