Why do guys get exhausted of girls after they reciprocate interest?

The same story has happened to me 16F and my countless female friends. Guys like us and openly pursue us (they make the first move/show interest), and then when we actually start talking their interest falls. I mean responses hours later, they make less plans to hang out, their tone seems less enthusiastic. This makes us very insecure because as girls we become attached.

In full honesty, the only way I managed to keep a guy’s interest was by being toxic. Like openly rude, not respond for hours, don’t say hi to him in person. I feel like this impacted both of our mental healths poorly because on his end (in my opinion this treatment is unacceptable) on my end I feel like I have to resort to tactics and be an objectively bad person to feel loved. Plus, the expectations aren’t that high. Just to match the same tone you set from the beginning of the talking stage

AITA rejected my dream guy prom date

So this guy 17M I have the biggest crush on asked me 16F to prom and I said no in the worst way possible. He asked me two weeks before prom and I felt like that was a bit late and impolite. So I was super rude. We were talking for a few months, but I felt his interest to start falling and reacted very irrationally. I didn’t just say no I told him all the reasons too. Is there any way to win him back in such a short timeframe? Or are my concerns reasonable?
