Scoundrel’s Dungeon card-based dungeon crawler (feedback welcomed)
Hey everyone,
My friend and I have been working on a card game project called Scoundrel’s Dungeon, built on top of the mechanics from the solo card game Scoundrel.
We’re both developers, and we wanted to take something we already enjoyed and expand it into a deeper, more replayable experience.
In our version, the game is structured as a 7-floor dungeon.
Each floor introduces new monster types and mechanics, so the strategy evolves as you go. Instead of just surviving encounters, you’re also managing resources, upgrading your deck, and deciding how to handle increasingly difficult enemies.
Some of the things we’ve added compared to the original:
- Multiple dungeon levels with scaling difficulty
- Boss fights that require different strategies than regular encounters
- A system for upgrading your cards and weakening enemies
- Shops and item choices that let you shape your run
- More variety in monster behavior, so it’s less about fixed patterns and more about adapting
The core idea is still about making tough decisions with limited options, but we wanted to push it toward something closer to a roguelike deckbuilder while keeping the simplicity of a card game.
If you’ve played Scoundrel before, I’d be especially curious what you think about expanding it in this direction. Do you prefer keeping it minimal, or adding more progression systems like this?
