My girlfriend shocked by something that seemed normal to me

Hello everyone,

I (M22) have been dating my girlfriend (F22) for 7 months. She’s Indian and currently living in Europe for her studies.

Everything was going well between us until last week. We were playfully roughhousing, and during it she accidentally kneed me in the balls. She apologized immediately, and everything seemed fine at the time.

Later, though, we talked about it and she asked me if other girls had ever hit me there before. I jokingly said yes, that it had happened a few times before, maybe 4 or 5 times at school.

But she seemed shocked that it had happened that many times and started getting concerned, asking me why girls had hit me so often.

I answered that it happened when I was being annoying with some girls, but she said that in her country, if girls hit a guy that often, it usually means he really deserved it, and she wanted me to explain the situations.

But honestly, it made me really uncomfortable to go into detail about it in front of her, so I changed the subject. She keeps bringing it back up in a half-serious, half-joking way, and I can tell it’s bothering her and she wonder if i deserved it.

I’m not really sure what to do, so I’m coming here for advice.

I wonder now if all women think like her or if it specific to Indian, or if i was a stupid punk when i was younger ?

I’m not really sure what to do or say, so I’m coming here for advice.
