How long should my first VN be?

I'm currently working on an idea and I have thought about the lenght of it.

It would be around 8-15 hours probably, but that's just an estimate.

I also plan it to feature a few different paths for a few endings.

Is it too much for a person who's a beginner at renpy?

Also this would be my first ever story I would try and finish, not like other ones.

I have been thinking about making a fanganronpa with the cast of 7. They are still being thought out, but I realised the death game would be bums after chapter 1 if I followed with the same 2 people die one chapter.

So, I have decided if the culprit is caught, they will be forced to stay, they can't escape, but instead of an execution they get some punishments which make them be unable to do certain stuff.

So that makes 6 characters still alive in chapter 2.

But you may ask what happens if the culprit doesn't get caught?

I have thought about making it so, the culprit can escape, but only 1 person gets executed in exchange.

I know it sounds too much, 3 people dying in one chapter with the cast of 7?

It's kind of the point. Would you sacrafice someone in order for one person to escape? Would be able to let a murderer out?

This also gives certain characters more time to shine.

So, what are your thoughts?

I genuinely thought Cara was going to be this ultra important character when playing through the prologue. Since I miscounted the characters I have met I thought she was the last student we didn't meet, but she ended up 'dead'.

When the game said her body was a replica I thought she was alive somewhere hiding. I even counted the doors, but I accidentally counted wrong so I thought there were only 15 rooms and also only 15 students.

But I have realised midway through chapter 1 that there were 16 students and rooms, I just miscounted.

I gave up on the theory of her being alive somewhere.

(I know this all was contridactory to what the game was saying with this being a crime scene remade and stuff.)

I'm asking this because I have a great idea (In my opinion), but I'm afraid if I'm going to do it right now it will be bad. I have been a perfectionist my whole life and that's why I'm scared to make it. I also have low self-confidence so that definitely hurts in me doing it.

For clarification this would be my first ever story I would fully write. I have started stories, but I never even gotten past the draft stages mostly.
