Classist behaviour at TSUKI Pune completely ruined the experience
I usually don’t make posts like this, but I genuinely feel people should know about the experience my friend and I had at TSUKI, Pune.
We went there around 7 PM without a reservation because we honestly didn’t know prior bookings were required. The manager told us they had reservations starting at 9 PM, but he still accommodated us till then. I genuinely appreciated that and thanked him sincerely for it, twice actually, because I understood they were busy.
But after we sat down, the entire vibe started feeling uncomfortable.
From the beginning, the waitress assigned to our table kept giving us strange looks while talking and whispering to the other staff members. At first, I ignored it because I thought maybe I was overthinking it. I’m not someone who assumes people are constantly talking about me. But this became very apparent after a point. She would look directly at us, say something to the other waiters, and they would all glance over again. It happened repeatedly enough for us to clearly notice it.
We were literally just sitting there quietly, minding our own business.
We ordered two dishes, spoke politely, thanked the staff, complimented the food — everything from our side was respectful and completely normal. We were dressed appropriately for the place and behaved properly throughout.
Still, the energy towards us felt weirdly judgmental the entire time.
The moment that completely ruined the experience for me was when the waitress came over and asked if we were done while my friend was STILL eating. There was literally food on his plate. We even mentioned that this was just an appetizer for us, and despite that, she picked up his plate while he was still eating from it.
That honestly felt incredibly rude and dismissive.
At that point, the whole mood was ruined and I just wanted to finish paying and leave as quickly as possible.
What made everything even more noticeable was watching how differently they treated certain other customers. The moment more “elite-looking” or obviously wealthy people walked in, the behaviour completely changed suddenly it was constant attention, warm smiles, “hello sir,” hovering around the table, and an entirely different level of hospitality.
And before anyone says this is some kind of insecurity or projection, it’s not. I’ve thought about this properly before posting. The difference in treatment was subtle enough that people on the outside may dismiss it, but very obvious when you’re the ones experiencing it directly.
Hospitality should not depend on whether someone looks rich, important, or like a regular customer.
Young people also spend their money to enjoy experiences at places like this. We came respectfully, behaved respectfully, and paid respectfully. Nobody deserves to feel looked down on while simply trying to enjoy a meal.
The food may have been good, but the behaviour completely overshadowed the experience. Pune, especially KP, already has enough good restaurants. People deserve to know how they might be treated before deciding where to spend their money.
