I ABSOLUTELY HATE THIS EDITING TREND.

I understand them being used in ACTUAL PRACTICALITY for sing-alongs or in videos of reading sentences in English to help forgeiners, and this existed LONG before TikTokers ruined it to destroy attention spans, BUT WHY, does this always appear on every single short video in place of NORMAL closed captions on? Why is this found on like 95% of short videos or god forbid LONG FORM CONTENT?! The whole purpose of closed captions and subtitles is for accessibility for deaf people or low-volume watching, not to flash bright colors like waving a rattle in front of a baby's faces! We can read perfectly fine! Also if anyone talks fast and you can't catch up with the highlight, good luck trying to understand what these people are saying!

I hate how TikTok is not only lowering people's attention spans with short form garbage, but also has created a trend of infantizing adults and teens with garbage like this in addition to stupid euphuisms like "pew-pew" and "unalive". Also I don't understand dynamic captions also existing in videos just to get a rush out of anyone watching it. Are you serious? Why would I want to get a rush out of watching something if I want to just watch a video like a normal human? How about you stop spelling everything out for us and let us read your lips on-screen at our own pace?

For the love of all that is holy people the grown men who do this in short form content for no reason other than "MUH RETENTION AND ATTENTION SPAN" need to grow up and snap out of it. We're not babies watching Cocomelon. I feel stupid myself already just looking at this stupid thing that takes up half people's short video on any YouTube page. 🤦‍♂️
