Hey!

I'm really bad and slow in RTS games. I'm tend to sightseeing rather to focus on the economy and my units. However I'd like to improve at least to be able to defend my girlfriend while she building her magnificient city.

If I play ranked games and try to learn the hard way in multiplayer (1v1 only) can I be a decent player? Or should I stick with games against AI?

How did you learn to play? Thanks!

My GF loved the Age of Empires series since childhood. She usually plays AoE4. I asked her if she plays for the fight or the city building and the building was the answer. She is not afraid to fight either. Can you suggest me a good historical easy to learn city builder game for her?

First I thought about the Anno series either 1800 or 117 but I'm afraid the tons of DLC's and paywalls. Is it true?

Edit: She stated that "smartphone/mobile graphics" is a no to her.
