You join the game because you like tanks in real life and want to shoot tanks in a video game. Shortly after you join, maybe 2,000 battles in you get introduced to Stats. Most regular players do not care and never will care about Stats, but a few of us decided to taste the golden tea and get to the highest levels of this game to see what the big deal is. You grind and you grind, you Improve. Yellow to Green. Green to Blue (Teal didn't exist back then when I started this grind) Blue to tier 8 Purple. Tier 8 purple to tier 10 purple. Tier 10 Purple to Super Uni. Some would consider "4K purple" to be another tier, I never got that far.

You finally do it. You get your purple stats. You join a top 5 clan. You see what the big deal is....... back then it was nice. Gold every week, active unicums to play with. The first reward tank at the time, the M60, came out. Most of us didn't play it. We just got it just to get it. Back then if you were in a top clan and did 10 battles during the campaign, you got the tank. Easy.

But then the flip side the top 1% doesn't tell Pubbies about: Drama. When you don't know what stats are there is no drama cause regular players get on, shoot a few tanks, go back to sleep, then work in the morning. But the top 1%? IE the Blues and Purples that make up comp clans? A few of them have Jobs and lives, a lot of them don't. When you don't have a life, you have all the time in the world to engage in "World of tanks Drama"-Haglar. This is not an exaggeration. On the Forums you had a section called "Clan Rivalry and Diplomacy" where players of top clans would spend more time hyping on drama on the forums than actually playing the game. This eventually caused a war known as "Operation Purple Dawn" on the NA server. I know......a video game war. Crazy right?

That war ends. The Burning Legion dies. My clan _Bad eventually disbands. I quit the game for a little while. I come back in like, 2015. Time to find another clan. I didn't really want to do clan wars anymore but any clan above the 2K Wn8 level required comp. So I sucked it up. The same thing different clan. Bored basement dwellers with no lives, causing drama over any little thing, most of the time not even playing the actual game. Eventually you get to the point where you're like "Damn. I temporarily went into the basement, to finally get to the top 1% of the game, and I'm having less fun than ever because all the best players are bored little kids who cause fights over nothing because they are bored? I'm out"

So you leave. When you are a yellow player? You are invisible. Nobody notices you. Nobody cares. You're just another ant walking around in the Soil. But if you have Good overalls now? All the basement dwellers notice you. "You're only Blue, you're trash. You're only light purple, you're trash. You only have 3K recents you're trash". You realize something else. That no matter how good you actually get in the game, because the basement dwellers need a constant supply of Drama, they will still find a way to attack you. The clan I just left 2 people were clowning my tier 11 recents when I have more 2 marked 11s than both of these players combined. (Literally) But this is how it goes. Even when you are better than the basement dwellers, so long as you aren't totally average or worse? You get noticed, and pulled into the drama. Unless you block them all. Which I usually do.

I see posts that always ask "Why does nobody ever want to get better". I've played this game on and off since 2012. With the last time I quit intending to be my final run. Deleted my old account in the process. But unfortunately there's no other tank game like this. So I returned. Under the account I play now. But here's the thing that never changed: You get better at the game. What's your reward? You go from being in average clans where people have Jobs and lives outside of the game. To now hanging out with basement dwellers who spend more time causing drama than actually playing the game. Who wants that as a reward? Especially in 2026 where you dont even get gold for being in a top clan anymore.

The basement dwellers say "You only have a 2500 overall on a new account, you're bad. Get to 4K". And to them I say, "No thanks". I'm content at this level for I know, from experience, the only thing that awaits you from climbing to the highest skill levels of this game are basement dwellers who only make the game less fun for you.

This post will probably get negged to Oblivion. But I wanted to offer a different perspective from someone who was Average, got better, Joined Unicum clans, and now have absolutely 0 incentive to return to the basement because there's more fun in the game being "Average", but having 0 drama while you're shooting tanks. When you wonder why nobody wants to get better? This is one of the reasons why. Even the people who have never been in top clans personally, they see how the basement dwellers act on both this Sub, discord, and in the game and say "No thanks". "I never want to be like these people, I'll stick to being "Bad".

I met 2 people who I suspected have BPD, and I intend to cut contact with them probably this week, but it's insane how fast they can go from being friendly to you to being INSTANTLY Hostile. And you'll never know the true reason why since they won't ever tell you. 1 of the two started getting hostile towards me after I told her I was working and she said "I don't want to bother you". Now we all text people while working, or maybe not all, but i'm sure a lot of us do. It's Normal. I told her there's no bother and she got hostile to me, Just like that. Her energy never returned to normal Since Lmao.

But we all know with BPD this wasn't what caused the problem, the "Trigger" happened long before this interaction. The other one I don't have a scenerio where the energy changed. Seems like it came out of nowhere, but we know it's never out of "Nowhere". Once they've invented a scenerio in their head that enrages them the Idealization phase ends, and you begin the hostility phase.

The mistake most people make is that they stick around trying to make things better. I think I got enough proof I need from these two, I'm out Lmao. Wanted to share this because when you accidently meet new borderlines it never takes long for them to reveal what they actually have. Since they all seem to be following the same exact script. Idealize-Invent a Scenerio in their heads- Turn hostile- Never tell you why they've become hostile.

On Discord and Reddit i've noticed that a lot of the basement dwelling sweaty's will say ridiculous things like "3,000 WnX means you've finally learned the basics of the game, while 2500 WnX is only slightly above average" or something along those lines. Which leads to even very good players believing they are either bad, or only a little bit better than average because they are comparing themselves to the 7K WnX basement dwellers.

Nobody dares to challenge this because everybody wants to be on the Good side of said sweaty's to get into good clans ect. Well, I stopped doing Comp over 10 years ago so I don't care about playing politics, lets show everybody what the actual Data says:

-Most of the player base is Yellow. Regardless if you use either WR or WnX or a combination of both. This is the "Average" zone. 47-49% WR with Around 1,000 WnX and you are an "Average" player. While you don't stand out in most of your battles you also aren't an active detriment to your team. In a game where 1 team will always lose, the average player will win and lose 49%, with around a 1-2% Draw rate over a large sample size. Players below this skill level (Red) are an active detriment to their team, where while an average player isn't swinging the pendulum to either a win or a loss, a red/orange player is actively swinging the battles they are in to a loss.

-If you are finally winning more than you lose (50%+), AKA the green level, you are already better than the vast majority of this game. This means that for most of your battles you are actively doing something that positively influences the outcome of games.

-Teal is the more consistent version of Green. You aren't doing anything more spectacular as a Teal player than a Green, you are just doing your same performance more *Consistently*. This is usually considered the top of the "Bottom" tiers of Skill. While the Upper brackets of the game will consider this "Bad" it should be noted that at this level you are already better than 95% of the game. To those of you who use XVM, how often do you see a player with 1600+ WnX And/or a 54%+ overall? It's usually only 1-2 players per team, if there's any in the battle at all. Semi-rare, but not impossible to find.

-Blue is the Bottom of the Upper skill bracket, but is where the baseline begins to be considered for Comp clans. On NA most of the top 30 clans Required 2K recents at one point (No idea what they require now), but it should be noted that the vast majority of players for this game do not participate in Comp. So while you'll see Blue players (2K WnX 56%+ WR) everywhere in top 30 clans, they are basically Unicorns in the actual game. To those of you who use XVM take note of how often you see a player between the 2,00-2499 Range in Pubs. You may see 1 once every 2-3 battles. Sometimes even less than that. The basement dwellers often make fun of Blue players, but if you've grinded it out and managed to get to this skill level? Congrats. Even if top 10 clans won't accept you, you're still better than 99% of the game.

-Light Purple, AKA Unicum. The 58%/2450-2949 skill range. This level of skill is so rare that you almost never see proper unicums in battle. Most people with purple stats tend to be low tier Seal clubbers. Yes the charts I mentioned above get even more Skewed if you begin factoring in tier 10-11 tanks. Where the upper skill levels of this game become even more rare. But even low tier unicums are rare to spot in a battle. The Unicum you see once every 5-6 battles? Check his stats at the end of the battle and tell me what his average tier played is. Actual proper unicums who can maintain these stats in tier 10+ tanks are even more rare. And while you won't get into the Best clan on either NA or EU, if you've reached this level of skill congrats. You are better than 99.9% of the game.

-Then the final tier bracket of Skill, but it should be noted even at this level there's huge gaps in skill: The Super Unicum. AKA the Mythical 60%er/2950+ WnX range. Like with Normal unicum finding proper super-unicums on this game is extremely rare. Borderline impossible unless you look at top 10 clans, and even there most don't play Pubs. But you'll find them hanging out in Comp all day. A lot of Improper super-unicums will be seal clubbers, but true Super-unicums who can maintain their stats at tier X and above are the top 0.01% of the game. There's a reason you never see these players, even with XVM. The few that reach this skill level are Anonymized. For Obvious reasons. But even among super unicums the gap between 60%/2950 and 65%/3.5K is Enormous. Then the gap between 70%/4K+ even more so.

What's interesting about the absolute highest level of super unicum is, maybe to justify their obsession with the game, 4K players will often talk down on 2500-3K players and will try to imply that at the middle unicum levels you are only slightly better than average. No. After about 2K each new color scale represents exponential gaps in skill, since the main difference between a 3K player and 4K player is how consistent they are getting those very high damage games. Consistency is a skill, and probably the most underrated one for this game.

If you are Blue, Teal, or Green you are not "bad", just not as good as the upper top 1% of this game. But you are still better than most of the game, and don't let the basement dwellers tell you otherwise. That is all.

Discuss.
