Hey! I’m working on an indie game called Where Shadows Lie, a 2D top-down pixel art game focused on narrative, tension, and survival.

I’m looking for a pixel artist who can create sprite sheets and animations based on existing high-fidelity character concept art.

Project Scope

  • 2D top-down pixel art (32-bit style, not Game Boy limitation)
  • Character sprite sheets (idle, walk, basic actions)
  • Simple but expressive animations (subtlety > flash)
  • Bonus: environment tiles/props if you’re interested

What you’ll be working from

  • Clean, high-quality character concept art (turnarounds provided)
  • Clear direction on tone, silhouette, and movement

Tone / Style

  • Grounded, slightly dark
  • Quiet, uneasy atmosphere rather than exaggerated/cartoonish
  • Strong readability (especially in forest + low-light scenes)

Game Context

  • You play as a teacher escorting children through a dangerous forest.
  • Encounters are rare but intense.
  • The world feels calm… until it isn’t

Looking For

  • Strong understanding of top-down readability
  • Experience with sprite sheets + animation cycles
  • Ability to translate detailed concept art into clean pixel form
  • Good communication and willingness to iterate

Budget

  • Paid (flexible depending on scope and experience)
  • Starting with a small batch to test fit, then expanding

If you’re interested, please leave a comment below with a link to your portfolio.
