Had a wholesome moment in Chico.

A un-housed guy told me: if you go to Celestino's Pizza 1354 East Ave near closing time and just ask nicely, sometimes they’ll give you Pizza they were going to throw away. No drama. Just simple kindness. Pass it on.

Less waste, people get fed, everyone wins!

If you miss that window, there are other ways food gets a second chance there. Just be respectful: don’t make a mess, and don’t ruin it for others.

It feels like one of those small things that works because people don’t take advantage of it.

In a world that feels way too much like a transaction, this little pizza shop in Chico is a reminder that community still exists in small ways.

See, Pizza CAN save the world.

A security guard purposely looked away while homeless people took thrown-out food from the dumpster. He turned his back. Let them do it.

They came late - after 1am. Stayed quiet. Left no mess. This clearly happens all the time.

With how hard life is right now money-wise, watching someone pick being a decent human over following corporate rules? That actually meant something.

I know not everyone will agree. Some will say rules are rules. But throwing away good food every night while people sleep outside is straight-up crazy. This one small act cut through that crazy.

Shout out to that guard. Shout out to Trader Joe’s Chico if the managers know and let it happen.

Just really needed to see something humane for once. Chico came through for its less fortunate.

Not gonna lie, I gained some respect for the Trader Joe’s in Chico the other night.

There was a few homeless folks grabbing food out of the dumpster. The security guard saw them and just… let it be. No yelling, no chasing anyone off. Just turned away and gave them space.

They weren’t causing any problems. Came late, kept it quiet, didn’t leave a mess. It felt like one of those unspoken things.

I don’t know if that’s something the store allows or if it was just the guard making a call in the moment, but either way, it felt like the right call.

There’s so much perfectly good food that gets tossed, and seeing someone not make a bad situation worse for people who are already struggling meant something.

So yeah, shout out to that Trader Joe’s. Small moment, but it stuck with me.

Saw something late night at the Chico Trader Joe's that stuck with me.

A security guard deliberately looked the other way while homeless individuals took discarded food from the dumpster. Turned his back. Let them be.

They came late. They were quiet. They left no mess. This clearly happens regularly.

In an economy this brutal, watching someone choose compassion over corporate policy? That meant something.

I know not everyone will agree. Some will say rules are rules. But seeing edible food get thrown out nightly while people sleep outside is insane. This small act cut through that insanity.

Shout out to that guard. Shout out to Trader Joe's Chico if management knows and allows it.

Just really needed to see something humane for once. Chico showed up for its less fortunate.
