Looking for some local insight

Hello fellow Chico food lovers. I'm thinking of starting a small food business of some kind (food truck, selling from home, etc.) and I have some questions.

Firstly, what in your opinion is lacking in Chico food wise? It could be a type of cuisine, a specific food, baking vs. hot meals, or anything else you can think of. I love to cook and I'm open to giving most things a shot, even if I'm not familiar with it. I'd much rather fill a niche than start something that's been done to death here.

Another question, mainly for people who have some experience in the food industry: what is the viability of starting a food related business in the current economic climate? And what kind of advice would you give someone starting out fresh?

Any and all opinions are welcome :)

Why are 90% of the political signs around town for Republicans?

I understand that the county leans republican, but the city leans democrat. Yet almost all of the political signs in town are for Republicans. What's the deal?

Owl Searching

I have a friend who has really taken a liking to owls. Where have you seen them? Personally I don’t know much about them but I hear a few different ones every now and then. I’d imagine they are all over Butte County. **bonus points if you have images**

American Sign Language?

Hi everyone I am looking to take ASL and learn to be fluent in it. I am hard of hearing and my hearing is just going down but no one seems to know where I can learn ASL. Any help would be highly appreciated.

Opened up instagram to find a video from an unfamiliar username only to realize it’s Tanner Drake.

Looks like he’s reactivated his account under the username @hearts_creation_530

If you’re unfamiliar with the situation search his name or Hidden Veil in this subreddit.

If you’re in the Chico area please be aware that he is using a this new username and attempting to revive his tattooing career.

Stay safe out there ladies.

Anyone have cassettes or know where to buy?

Melody records and gold city vintage have some solid option but some don’t work/ some have molded! Anyone know where to possibly find any cassettes or any thrift spots that might have any? Or anyone have a portion of their collection they’re finding to clear up?

Cinemark seats

Have they updated to the recliner with footrests? I have been gone for 3 years and the last time I went was like sometime early 2023. Google says they upgraded to luxury loungers that have footrests and recline.

People who work at Walmart, when do you stock the toy section?

I NEED (yes, need) a Bratziez blind box keychain. But they’ve been sold at Walmart in chico for so long. I never get my timing right. If anyone who works at Walmart could give me clues, I would give you a spiritual kiss (or handshake, or nothing at all if you want). Thanks!

How do you hear about local concerts in Chico—and what actually gets people to show up?

Hey Chico!

I’m curious how people here usually find out about local concerts and live music events. Do you mostly rely on social media, word of mouth, flyers around town, email lists, or something else?

Also, from your experience, what’s the most effective way to spread the word if you’re putting on a show? Are there specific platforms, groups, or spots in town that actually get people to show up?

Appreciate any insight—just trying to get a better feel for what works in this community. Thanks!

Auto body shop vs regular shop suggestions?

My 2015 Hyundai front passenger door all of a sudden doesn’t open (from inside or the outside) and I was wondering if it’s better to visit a regular mechanic or specifically an auto body shop. And did anyone have a particular suggestion? I’m trying to visit a decent locally owned shop vs just going to the dealership, but which I assume would be more expensive.
