I (20M) Wanted my girlfriend (22F) to try Skyrim and I showed her a video about RPG games because she doesn't really know much about the RPG genre. Then I told her she could try out Skyrim, that it's pretty good, some of the videos footage was from the game and that it's in our shared steam library so she doesn't even need to buy it. Then she said that she doesn't like Skyrim because the game didn't look interesting, then I told her that it's okay because she can still just try the game and lose nothing except for maybe a bit of time. Then she got a bit agitated and said that she saw the footage and liked nothing about the game, I said that it's a weird thing to say because she knows almost nothing about the game. Then she said she also didn't like the fantasy setting the game was in, I pointed out that she plays other games in fantasy settings. And then she started getting louder and said that I just crossed a boundary, I said I'm sorry and I don't know what boundaries I just crossed, then she screamed at me and said that I am an Asshole and she doesn't like playing video games with me and hates watching shows with me because I can't stop analyzing shows and games and that it's annoying to her and everyone else (I know that the second part isn't true because some of our friends to the same thing)

Then she started crying, I tried to stay calm even if I was extremely overwhelmed of the sudden outburst and asked why she's acting that way, then she said again that I crossed a boundary again, threw some more insults and me and went to the living room crying. I have still clue what I did wrong and I am still very confused and overwhelmed

(UPDATE) After the waves of comments that suddenly came in (which I did not expect) I now agree that I am in the wrong and shouldn't have been pushy It's just a general issue I have with stuff I like that I want my loved ones to also try it. I will act better in the future

(Second update) I feel like people judge our entire relationship based on this post. my girlfriend and I are together for almost 5 years now, we get along very well and match on almost everything, music taste, hobbies, taste in shows, political views etc. we got along a few minutes after this situations and we both apologized to eachother since we both acted in the wrong. people who say I'm a bad person only based on this post, you dont know us and dont have the full picture. people who say she is a bad person or abbusive, she is neither abbusive or a bad person I agree with that I am in the wrong, but this post gives no one the right to intentionally hurt me or her
