bombed calc bc due to illness, the "analytic foundation of the MIT education". would something like this impact admissions?
i commented this on another post, but i'm really anxious. i have a 97 in calc bc and have done very well all year long, 100s on many tests. i got very sick over the weekend but our school policy doesn't allow skipping the exam without a doctor's note and communication with the AP coordinator, and it was far too late for that. i had a splitting headache, nausea, and chills during the exam and couldn't think straight, and i think i got a 4, maybe the bare, bare minimum for a 5 according to score calculators.
"Math, including calculus, the analytic foundation of the MIT education" is listed on the mit admissions page as one of 3 main categories evaluated to see if we're well-matched for MIT. there is a SPECIAL section for calculus talking about how it is foundational on the webpage and a video. it seems more important than other scores and courses here.
with this context in mind, i'm worried about how a 4 on a calculus AP exam specifically would disadvantage in the admissions process compared to a similar applicant with a 5. i agree that a 3 or 4 in a subject unrelated to major or to mit's needs may be okay, but what do you think about this? i am applying as an engineering major where calculus would clearly be a very important topic. i come from a very competitive public school, and i am doing multivar in the fall.
also: is it worth mentioning in additional info or is that too stupid/overreacting?
