What Space Marine model is this supposed to be?

Hey! Need help identifying this Space Marine kitbash.

I can’t fully identify this model. My first thought was some kind of Bladeguard Veteran or Lieutenant conversion because of the shield and overall look, but the weapon doesn’t really match anything I recognize. Maybe it’s a full kitbash using multiple kits?

Does anyone know what this model is supposed to be or what kits the parts come from?

Seller listed it as a “Lieutenant”, but I’m trying to figure out what kits the parts actually come from. From what I can tell it might be mostly Assault Intercessor bits with maybe some Bladeguard/Lieutenant pieces mixed in?

The shield especially is throwing me off. Does this come from an official model or is it a full custom build?

Included the extra bits picture too in case it helps identify the sprues.

My First Ever Warhammer Mini :b

Today I finished my first miniature ever painted in my entire life and honestly I’m ridiculously proud of it lol. A few weeks ago I knew absolutely nothing about Warhammer mini painting and now I’m completely obsessed with the hobby.

The miniature started as one of those free/demo introduction minis I got at my local store, but I ended up doing a little kitbash using leftover bits from my Death Guard Combat Patrol. Basically I took a simple model and slowly turned it into something way more disgusting and corrupted looking. Also I wanted to ask if this is actually legal to play with or if demo minis have some weird restriction attached to them.

The whole process was way harder than I expected but also way more fun. I started with primer and let it dry for about 24 hours because I was terrified of ruining everything immediately. Then I did an Abaddon Black base coat, followed by a white drybrush to pick out the volumes before moving into Death Guard Green and the details. I also used Screamer Pink mixed with white for the tentacles and Balthasar Gold for the bronze decorations. After that I spent a good amount of time just fixing all the places where I accidentally painted over other areas because I quickly realized miniature painting is basically making mistakes and correcting them for several hours until somehow it starts looking good.

At the end I painted the skulls and bones white and then absolutely drowned them in Agrax Earthshade. And when I say drowned I REALLY mean drowned lol. I kind of improvised because I still don’t fully understand how shades are supposed to work. I let it sit for a bit, removed some excess with the brush and waited for it to dry. I still don’t really understand the timing for shades or how long I’m supposed to wait between layers, so any advice about using Agrax would genuinely help a lot because I feel like I used it completely blind. Somehow the bones ended up looking pretty cool though with that dirty brown aged effect.

I also seriously want to thank everyone who has been helping me because I entered this hobby knowing absolutely nothing. People have been giving me advice about drybrushing, wet palettes, thinning paints, respecting drying times, primers and even explaining brush sizes and types to me. I started with cheap 00, 0, 1 and 4 brushes and now I finally understand why people say having one good brush changes everything.

The people at my local store have also been incredibly patient with me. They’ve already given me around 10 free Infernus demo marines so I can build a full squad and start playing more often, which honestly made me appreciate the community even more.

I still have no idea what to do with the base because right now the texture kind of looks like stone and I’m not sure if I should paint it or just leave it like that. I also struggled a LOT trying to reach some areas without accidentally painting over nearby details, so if anyone has advice for painting hard-to-reach spots or cleaning leftover glue without damaging the miniature I’d really appreciate it.

I’m going to upload pictures of the whole process because honestly it makes me really happy seeing how it went from looking like an awful black blob to something that actually resembles a Warhammer miniature lol. I know it’s nowhere near perfect, but for my very first mini ever painted I’m genuinely happy with how it turned out.

Anyway thank you all so much for the help so far and I’d love to hear any advice because I’m very clearly just getting started.

Hey, I’m pretty new to Warhammer and Kill Team, so sorry if this is a basic question.

I’ve been offered a Gellerpox Infected set (and possibly some other Kill Team boxes) for really cheap, and I’m trying to figure out if it’s actually worth picking up. From what I understand, these are mainly for Kill Team, but I’m more interested in eventually playing regular Warhammer 40,000. The thing is, I couldn’t really find proper datasheets or clear info on how (or if) they translate into 40k.

Can these units be used in 40k in any viable way, like as part of Chaos Daemons or Death Guard, or are they basically locked to Kill Team? Also, in general, are Kill Team boxes a good starting point if my goal is to slowly build a 40k army, or should I avoid them and focus on proper 40k kits instead?

I don’t mind using them as proxies or for casual play, but I’d like to know how “legal” or practical they are in standard 40k. Thanks!

I’m from Latin America, and getting into Warhammer here is noticeably harder compared to other regions.

It’s not really about lack of interest (there’s a growing community, local stores, painters, and even small tournaments) but the main issue is accessibility. Prices are high, availability is inconsistent, and most people rely on imports or resellers just to get started. In other regions, there are partwork-style collections run under license by companies like Editorial Salvat in collaboration with Games Workshop. These collections slowly build armies with miniatures, paints, and guides, making the hobby much easier to approach for beginners. That model already exists and works in several countries, so it’s not something hypothetical.

Here, that kind of entry point simply doesn’t exist, and it really shows when trying to bring new people into the hobby.

Just sharing this as a perspective from outside the main markets; curious if other regions have similar experiences with accessibility.
