Hiring: Experienced Video Editor

<< LIST CLOSED >>

Thank you for your time and consideration

Hello everyone 👋🏻

I am a senior video editor and right now I’m overwhelmed by the volume of my clients, so I need a helping hand. This job is for experienced video editors only (at least 2+ years).
What you will do:

  • Editing social media clips and trimming multicam podcasts/interviews.
  • At first, captions and everything else will be created by me so you can watch and learn
  • Multicam is 5 cameras, each recording at 4K (RED/SONY). I will provide the LOG files.
  • Social media clips will be clipped from the original podcast.
  • I will provide the timestamps/timeframes for the social media clips.
  • Intro/Outro, Logo, Fonts, etc. are all ready and already created by me.

- My expectations ??

  • You should be able to mimic my style. I don’t want to remind you everything every day, so I need you to learn my font names, where to use them, and my cutting style. and even the right time to change the camera angle. You should copy them to the point that our edits are indistinguishable. After a few projects, I want to be able to proceed without checking your work, at least thats my goal for now👌🏻

***** From the reels/podcasts, you may recognize some clients, so you will need to sign a legal NDA with me:

  • You cannot share the edits, use them as samples, or contact any clients at any point.

Please answer the following:

  1. What is your editing software?
  2. What is your PC/MAC specs?
  3. Your internet speed? (Our files are huge, around 500GB per project, so you need a fast connection).
  4. Link to your best samples.
  5. How good is your English out of 10?

I will not respond to AI-generated comments.
If you reply with just ‘SEND DM’ without answering these questions, I will not respond.

Rates:

  • I will pay $50 for Social Media Clips and $100 for podcasts (just trimming).
  • I will pay $100 for Social Media clips and $200 for podcasts when you can handle the whole project by yourself (Captions and everything).

Payments: PAYONEER or USDT

P.S-1: If you have other rates in mind, please let me know. I can pay hourly or per project.
P.S-2: If you have any other questions, feel free to ask

10 things I wish every editor knew

Hello everyone,
I’m a senior video editor with 15+ years of experience in this industry. and for 10 of those 15 years, I worked as a professional video editor, I’ve been active in this community for a while and try to help out with as many posts as I can. I still remember when I started years ago and how many great editors helped me find my way.
I keep seeing the same questions popping up from new editors (and even some experienced ones), so I thought I’d put together a post to share some essential:

  1. NEVER deliver final edits without payment: Always send a version with a huge moving watermark and in 720p quality first. Once they approve and pay, then send the high-res, clean version.
  2. Stop using "copy-paste" applications: Read the job request carefully! You wouldn't believe how many people post "here is my cinematic samples" when a client is specifically asking for "funny/meme-style" editing.
  3. Create a proper Showreel: Put your best work into one concise video. Don't overdo it, but don't make it too simple either. And please, stop sending Google Drive links with dozens of loose/low quality files. Host your Showreel on YouTube or Vimeo and send that link instead.
  4. Only send your own work: Never use someone else's samples. Just because a video looks "easy" to recreate doesn't mean you can actually deliver that same quality under a deadline.
  5. No unpaid samples: Even if it’s only 15 seconds, don't do it for free. Your showreel is your proof of skill. If they insist on a custom sample, deliver it with a heavy watermark.
  6. Value your time and skills: I see people offering edits for $5 or $10. Why??? You’ve invested time to learn, you pay for software, and you spend hours searching for assets. In my opinion, the absolute MINIMUM for a beginner should be $15/hour.
  7. Protect high-value contracts: If you have a large contract (e.g., $5k) where a watermark isn't professional, try this: Create a unique soundscape/build it from scratch- post that before delivering the files, now you can use copyright-claim or "Content ID" if the client disappears without paying.
  8. Revisions are not unlimited: I usually offer one small revision for free. Anything major or additional should be charged as extra work. Make this clear from the start. just don't work for free.
  9. Beware of CapCut’s audio library: 99% of those tracks have copyright issues. If you’re making professional money, invest in a subscription like Artist or Epidemic Sound, or stick to the YouTube Audio Library its free and it has everything
  10. Practice, Practice, Practice: Watch the best editors on YouTube and try to mimic their style. If you repeat the process enough, you’ll eventually master the craft.

Good luck to everyone starting out 👌🏻
