Why would you ghost after we’ve set a date?

I’m not venting, but I’m genuinely curious why? This has become a reoccurring theme as of late, and it’s not every date, but I’ve noticed a trend of being ghosted after we’ve set a time and place.

Typically it goes like this; I get a match on hinge, and the conversation is going well. I make the move to continue the conversation in person, and the other enthusiastically says yes. We exchange a few more messages setting a time and place. And then either immediately after, or after a few more exchanges, I get ghosted. I will double message day of saying something to the effect of “hey, just wanted to check in and see if we’re still on!” But no response. And then of course I don’t go bc I don’t feel like being stood up (after a few times of getting stood up).

I don’t usually take it personally, bc they haven’t even met me yet, and by all signs they seemed eager and engaged. But it’s happened enough now that I’m just confused as to why this keeps happening (if I had a nickel every time it happened, I’d have only 3 nickels, but still weird it happened thrice), and what the take aways for growth I should/could take away?
