uncharted territory turning 30 and reassessing career goals

i'm 29, recently graduated with an accounting degree that's collecting dust on my shelf. for years, i told myself it was the safe choice a stable career with decent pay. but the truth is, i've been miserable in my job for seven years now.

the monotony of number crunching has sucked the joy out of me. i dread mondays, the thought of facing another day in a field that makes no emotional connection. the pay is okay, but it's not worth the cost to my mental health.

as i approach my mid twenties, i'm starting to feel like i've fallen off the traditional career path. my friends seem to have found their passions, while i'm stuck in a rut. i keep thinking about going back to school, pursuing something that genuinely excites me maybe writing, art, or even coding (i've dabbled in online courses and it's sparked something within me).

the only thing holding me back is fear of being 'behind'. will my age hold me back from starting anew? can i realistically catch up on skills and knowledge after seven years?

has anyone else ever felt like they're staring into the abyss, unsure if they should risk everything for a chance at happiness or stick with the status quo?
