Has anyone noticed that their skin produces more oil after using tretinoin for a long time?

I've been taking tretinoin for a long time, but lately I feel like my face is making more oil than usual, which is strange.

First, it made my skin dry. Now, some parts of it feel oily, but the rest of it still feels tight. Is this my skin's way of trying to make up for being dry or an unbalance in its barrier?

For people who have used tretinoin for a long time: Have you noticed that more oil is being made over time? And did changing your routine or drinking more water help even things out?

I'm going through this right now and I don't know what happened.

I've been using Tretinoin for a long time. My skin was alright with it at first, but now even small things bother it.

Every day, I do this:

AM: Cleanser → Moisturizer → Sunscreen

PM: Cleanser → Tretinoin → Moisturizer

Now I'm curious

1.Has my skin become more sensitive as time has gone on?

2.Should I not use it as often?

3.Or should I make my routine easier and work on getting rid of obstacles?

What helped you when this first started?

I've been using tretinoin for a while now, and I've observed that my pores don't appear or feel the same as they did previously. Why do they feel a little congested some days and clearer other days if tretinoin is supposed to help with that?

It might be because my skin is dry or dehydrated, which makes pores look wider, or it could be that something in my routine isn't working well anymore.

People that have used tretinoin on a regular basis: Have your pores changed in this way? And did consuming more water or modifying your routine make them look better again?

I have been taking tretinoin for a long time, but lately I feel like my face looks dull instead of glowing, which is not what I thought would happen.

Even though it's not breaking out, it doesn't look healthy or new. It looks almost flat or old. This could be because it's dry, because it's been used too much, or because I'm using too many actives with it.

For people who have been through this:

What happened to your face after using  tretinoin for a long time? Was that glow back after you changed how often you used tretinoin or made your process easier?

I'm going through this right now and don't know what to do.

For over a year now, I've been using Tretinoin every day. It helped a lot, although I still get breakouts from time to time.

My daily routine is quite easy:

AM: Cleanser, moisturizer, and sunscreen

PM: Cleanser, Tretinoin, and Moisturizer

I'm not sure if I should do more or less now.

1.Should I add something like a mild acid that helps with breakouts?

2.Or will that merely make my skin barrier weaker over time?

3.Should you remain with tretinoin and focus on being hydrated instead?

I don't want to do too much and make my skin worse. What worked for you throughout this time?

Since I've been taking tretinoin every day for almost a year, my face is getting redder. A mild redness stays on and doesn't really go away, but it's not too bad.

When used every day for a long time, this might happen, but I'm not sure if it means I'm doing too much.

For those who have been through it: As time went on, did your face get more red? Change your routine or cut down on how often you do it. Did that help?

I'm dealing with this right now, and it's hard to understand.

I've been taking Tretinoin for a long time. It worked well before, but now my skin looks dreary instead of bright.

What I do every day:

AM: Cleanser, moisturizer, and sunscreen

PM: Cleanser, Tretinoin, and Moisturizer

I'm now curious:

1.Am I using it too much by putting it on every day?

2.Should I cut back and put more effort into repairing my barrier and staying hydrated?

3.Should I get rid of additional actives and keep things simple?

I'm not sure if it's too much use or if something is missing. What worked for you?

I've been using tretinoin for years, and I've slowly stopped exfoliating because tretinoin already takes care of that. My skin is steady now, but I'm thinking about using a gentle exfoliation again to see if it helps with the texture and tone that are still there. I also don't want to mess up a regimen that has been working well for me. If you've been on tretinoin for a long time, have you brought exfoliation back in without creating irritation or setbacks? Did it make any visible difference?
