My 6yo Mal/Groen had multiple yellow jacket incidents during one summer 2 years ago. Ever since then he hates all flying insects to the point of obsession. Anything that lands on his fur freaks him out. When we go camping he will often do nothing but try to bite any bug that comes near him. When the mosquitoes get really bad he will walk to the tent, car, or trailer and try to get inside. This is very out of character for him since he normally wants to be right next to us. I was hoping that the winter insect die offs would allow him to be less traumatized, but this is the third spring since the yellow jackets and it hasn't gotten easier for him.
Got windy last night so everything firmed up for a while.
98 Tacoma. Bought it new in 98. I want to upgrade to true onboard air with a hard wired compressor and a tank. I don't want to sacrifice bed space or put a tank in the stock spare tire location. I was thinking inboard of the frame rails with a narrow tank. Rock sliders are welded to the frame and that area is pretty well protected. I have high-clearance exhaust routed above the rear axle so there's also a little extra room there. Has anyone found that perfect spot?
Got home from a weeklong work trip this evening. My boy turned into a melted butter dog snuggle machine. He just wants hugs and pets.
This place is great for old guys that haven't skated in a while. Last time I skated a park was in October on a road trip. I went to Granite skate park in Sacramento this morning and it was a humbling reminder that I am very out of practice. Then I went to the pump track in Rocklin and got my legs back. So fun! I wish I had reversed the order of parks and hit Rocklin first.
Just wrapped up a great conference. So many like-minded scientists, innovators, engineers, designers, and practitioners. Got a nice pile of swag too!
He's the best mountain dog. Never gets cold, swims in the lake and plays in the snow during winter blizzards, and loves the rest of the seasons just as much. Ultimate adventure buddy.
My pig doing its job towing my little house through Mt Lassen National Park.
He has gotten the cutest grey/white stripes on the back of his front legs as he's aged.
This is my 1990 suburban I inherited. It's been in our family since it was new. I used to love driving this thing back in the early 90s on the rare occasion that my dad let me borrow it. Now it is mine and I am slowly converting it into a family camping rig. I plan to keep it mostly stock on the exterior except for some rock sliders and a winch bumper. If anyone has done a conversion with a simple platform bed with drawers under it, please share some photos!
I want to get one of the large "herding" balls for my Mal but don't want to spend too much in case he isn't into it. Has anyone found a durable one that's cheaper than the Collie Ball? I don't want to spend $85 on a backyard toy...
It took a couple drives for him to get used to it. He kept trying to climb up into the front seat where he used to sit. Now he loves it. It looks smaller than it is in these photos. He has plenty of room.
