Mali found her dream stick… but had to work to get it.

My Mali found this ROOT today and spent a decent bit of the day digging it out. It ended up being super big and it broke into two pieces when she finally got it out, but she was super happy and probably felt so accomplished 😂

I'm such a sap. But I still cry when Dovey our rescue comes to cuddle

Dovey was our rescue, originally fostered by the RSPCA as part of an investigation into a shady Mal ring. she had lots of trauma from mistreatment by the breeders so she had noone willing to adopt her. my wife and I saw their SOS post and had to have her.

she was so timid at first. all she wanted to do was hide. wouldn't eat, wouldn't look at us etc. she did gradually come out of her shell with us never giving up on her. I posted the pics of first time she fell asleep next to me a few months back and I was sobbing like a baby as she dozed next to me.

Now, she'll sometimes still come over and cuddle into me as much as she can, even if she has to half lay on top of me to do it. and I'm maybe just a big sentimental sap but the progress she's made and seeing all her goofy personality still makes me choke up.

Today was our first emergency vet visit

(NOT ASKING VET ADVICE JUST GIVING THE INFO) puked a ton of mucus and blood after having diarrhea for a couple days. $900 later and we still dont really know what's up. xrays showed gi inflammation and a dilated duodenum but no foreign objects. He hasn't missed a beat and doesnt seem remotely sick outside of this. playing , eating and drinking like usual so none of the vets seemed especially worried which I guess is good. we'll be going back in the morning to recheck the duodenum dilation. Wish Snufkin luck please!

Good morning!

I love how she curls up in a little ball. She can make herself look so small.

Quick ask

Came out to the park as we usually do, after 20 minutes of non-mental stimulating fetch games they are both gassed. I feel like back at home they can each go for 45 minutes and then get tired, could just be me overthinking again but I just wanna hear from others experiences. Also I’m sure someone is gonna say something about “water” yes we give them plenty of water once the intense panting stops to prevent stomachs from bloating. Called the vet and they said as long as nothing else has changed outside of this it sounds pretty normal 🤷🏽‍♂️, our breeders have said the same. Dutchie X Mal is 5 Months old, and big boy in the back is 7 months old.

King of the castle king of the castle *borat voice*

One of the things scoob has recently figured out is that he can jump on things without being told to and this is his new fav spot on our morning walk every morning he jumps up and has a sniff and a scan around the field from his high ground

Do we think she’s full bred?

We got her as a rescue, an hour before being put down. They said she was a year but I have my doubts. She won’t sit still for a picture

Anyways, she’s super small compared to my male Mali, even for a female I would think. Maybe 40lb-45lb. Do we think she’s entirely Mali? I’ll eventually get a test.

I was expecting some training as she was noted to have had trauma, but she is the sweetest, smartest and lovable Mali who makes it known by chomps.

Banana and MacBook for scale.

Sock Bandit

Does anyone else’s Mal carry a sock around with them like it’s their emotional support? My girl finds one and sleeps with it in her mouth

Breed? Just over 5 months and 30lb.

We adopted this sweet girl from a shelter when she was 12 weeks old. They told us she’s a mix of Australian Shep and Belgian Malinois… what do we think??

Our rescue is so weird and we love her so much.

she's finally come fully out of her shell. that means she's in goofy mode 24/7. She can't just come cuddle us normally she has to get on her back and kick her legs in the air to ask for tickles

needing some support/advice.

we rescued our boy from a bit of a dire situation and he’s honestly great! we’ve taught him sit, down, stay, lay back (don’t know if that’s a real command/the actual word for it? essentially just him laying in his back and staying still so we can clip his nails), and hopefully will teach him more tricks! hes pretty great in every other category like socialization, potty training, crate training, recall, etc. my only thing is he SUCKS at paying attention, especially when we are outside, he leash pulls like crazy and nothing seems to get his attention, no treats, toys, secluded areas, etc.

i’ve grown up with ACDs my entire life and are pretty much my only dog training experience, they have all turned out to be fantastic, smart, and socialized dogs so my expectations are usually high when it comes to training.

i’ve been doing my research like crazy in this breed since the day we got him and i’m starting to feel like i’m in over my head if i can’t get this figured out. i’m not saying i’m giving up on him/going to give him away, just asking for any tips/support you guys have to train him. thanks!

also to add, he is not fully mal, he’s also GSD and husky, so quite the dog! i know he will need a crap ton of hard work and dedication, i work from home so i feel like it works out with his needs.

sorry, another edit, he’s also only about 5 months old!
