In my headcanon, they meet again.

In my headcanon, they meet again.

For me, Dustin and Suzie cross paths again in the late 90s at CERN. By that time, both have finished college and are most likely in postgraduate programs. The 90s were a huge boom for software development at CERN, paving the way for more complex experiments and the analysis of massive amounts of data, so Suzie is exactly the kind of software engineer you would find there, intelligent and able to work in environments that were still being built.

On the other hand, Dustin might have become kinda obsessed with what he read in Brenner’s diary, but in a healthy way. He would be part of the generation of physicists working on the design of experiments that would be tested years later, when the LHC was finally ready in the late 2000s.

So in my mind, one day they are walking through the massive tunnels when they suddenly recognize a familiar face. They stop, look at each other, and realize who it is. Later, they get drunk, catching up on everything they did during those years, end up singing “The NeverEnding Story” again, and even find a stray dog they decide to name Dart.

The previous scenes don’t make it clear how much El actually saw to Lucas, Mike and Will. Lucas was just playing a bravado role as Mike’s wingman, so he would just be dumped by Max again. Mike was anxious because he didn’t know how to tell El the truth, while still trying to play along with Lucas’s game. So what happens is exactly what we saw.

But Will was very vulnerable and upset, to the point where he could have been outed by Mike or ended up hurting El and Max by calling them stupid.

I think that even if Will didn’t say anything in that moment and supported Max, maybe to draw attention away from himself, that experience stayed with him until he came out at S5.

I don’t consider myself an expert on film, but I’ve noticed something and want to see if others have noticed it too.

In some recent movies and shows, when a character is listening to music through headphones, we still hear the surrounding sounds, voices, objects or the character's breathing or movements. The music feels like something the character is using to cope or escape, but it never fully blocks out the world.

I know that there are older movies where this happens the same, but I think that the music tends to take over the entire scene. Background noises almost disappear, and the song seems to tell us how we are supposed to feel the scene, rather than how the character is actually feeling it.

This idea popped up into my mind after I watched again the intro of Back to the Future with “Power of Love”, and I noticed that the music completely dominates the scenes even though the streets should be louder.

Do you think this reflects a broader trend in sound design and storytelling, or am I just cherry-picking?

Edit: Some examples I came up with while thinking about this were:

Max in Stranger Things. Spider-Man (Tom Holland). New Supergirl movie (Milly Alcock) . Star-Lord in Guardians of the Galaxy, this is totally part of his whole arc. Baby in Baby Driver

Considering that is soft canon which means if it contradicts hard canon it doesn't happen. What is your opinion on how the show portrayed Eleven. Do you think she is a good middle point of her self between S2 and S3? Did you like how the show explored her relationships with the Party and the new characters?
