Whooooo exactly are you supposed to report to when your interviewer SUCKS?!

I just (5 mins ago) had one of the worst interviews of all time. I spent the whole night prepping for a design system interview. The hiring manager made a huge deal about how they needed to consolidate design systems between them and the company that acquired them, so that's what I prepped for. That's what I was told to prep for. I even drilled into a plan that fit their monthly release cadence.

It was supposed to be a panel. One person showed up. Late. Camera off.

Told me to pull up a random built-in on Google and 'whatever code editor idc'. Then said 'see that? do that'.

When I asked clarifying questions, the response was, 'look at the thing.....build the thing.'

This was all after 35 mins of waiting for the others to join (they never showed) + filler questions. Zero relation to the position.

I don't usually get salty during an interview, but this one got to me. At the end I grilled him on the current design system and asked questions that were relevant to the position. He had no idea. Wasn't even on the team.

The mature thing is to say, 'I dodged a bullet'....I guess, but that was the FOURTH ROUND. All of the prep time and previous interviews pissed away because the interviewer couldn't be bothered. I thought about just closing the call at least 5 times.

Marketing with ZERO Budget

I built a Chrome Extension to help people identify ghost/fake job listings through LinkedIn. I'm used to building and then running cheap FB ads to get eyes on a product. The extension had the advantage of solving a problem that had a lot of negative emotion behind it, so I tried out making TikTok videos, addressing the emotional part directly.....how shitty the current job market is. I leaned into popular trends (Top 5 nightmares/horror movies /w the Katy Perry song and the video of the kid cry-laughing). The videos are still gaining views as the days go by and it's actually driving users to the extension.

I say all of that to say, if your budget is tight or you're just experimenting, TikTok can go a looooooong way. All of my videos are also faceless, so if you're camera shy like me, there is still a way. Good luck!!

EDIT: Also forgot to mention that the extension is free. That definitely factors in to the quick downloads.

Got 3 Interview Requests After Filtering My Jobs

It's still rough, but I think I've managed to make my job search a little easier. Companies just seem to be reposting the same jobs over and over so, I built a small plugin that shows the true date for job posts on LinkedIn. It has really help cut down on the amount of job reposts and fake listings that I apply to.

If the Job is listed with Ashby, Greenhouse or Lever then the plugin shows me if the post has been reposted. It's here if anyone wants to try it. Free.99. I'd also appreciate feedback if you do decide to use it.

It's bad enough that I can't find a way turn turn off reposts on LinkedIn. Why do they let companies throw up NEW listings for job posts that are months old?

Why do companies even put these up if they know they're not gonna hire?!

I was 4 weeks in and I got an email from the recruiter this morning that I would be moving onto the fifth round. She was asking for scheduling availability next week. An hour later I got a LinkedIn notification for the same position reposted.

Four weeks....gone lol do I even show up to the next scheduled interview? Anyway, I built a chrome plugin that detects reposts. How long a job has been up, if it's a new post with the same description as a past one, etc etc. Built purely out of spite over the last 4 hours.

The read API endpoints for Ashby, Greenhouse and Lever are public. If anyone who knows how to install a Chrome extension in dev mode wants to try, I'd be happy to sent the zip file in exchange for feedback. I used the Discord jobs page to test.

I built out a dashboard that gives daily/weekly report for Meta ads and has an agent give suggestions of which ads to scale, decrease spend and turn off based on impressions or audience fatigue.

I haven't had to look at the FB ads dashboard in about a month so I decided to see if other people found it useful and I got my first beta tester today! They run ads for a few small businesses so I'm hoping I get feedback for a few different campaign types.

I put together a dashboard for Meta ads that pulls relevant information based on campaign type. The dashboard pulls campaign data, give daily and weekly reports and offers suggestions on budget changes and wether an ad should be turned on or off.

I'd like some test users to join the free beta so I can get feedback on the quality of the reports and templates. The app is already verified on Meta as a tech provider.

The sweet spot for an ideal user is ~$50/day on ads. Testing ads is stressful enough without constantly running to check the ad manager, so the app bring the reports, ad vitals and suggestions to you.

I built my own ad dashboard to find out what was up with my ad spend over the last two weeks. I have a new trial campaign running at $5 per day for testing. Spend dropped to ~$3 over a few days then went over $8 for the next few days. Is that normal? My ad spend also seems to be burning pretty quickly in the morning.
