A question on baptism

I had a baptism question that I thought would be better answered here than the catholic reddit.

My wife and I just had a child. She was raised catholic. I'm not catholic at all, ever. No faith tradition in my camp. Obviously, religion isn't central to us. She wants to do a baptism. We met with a deacon and it all seems really innocent. They say some words and pour some water over their head. Are there any actual long standing consequences of a baptism that I'm blissfully unaware of? To me, if my child grows up and goes "hey, I'm not all about this", I can tell them, "that's fine!" Baptizing them seems innocent to me. Please comment with your thoughts and let me know what I'm missing, if anything.

A lot of newbies are coming here from Windows, which is awesome! I've used Endeavour for years now, and linux going back even farther than that. Below is a compilation of things that newly converted Window users might find useful.

Gaming:

  • ProtonUp-Qt: A GUI for installing gaming compatibility tools, the most important IMO being Proton Glorious Eggroll. I use ProtonUp-Qt to manage GE instances of Proton, and then set them to be used in Steam.
  • Vesktop: A discord client. I've always had trouble with the vanilla Discord app on linux. Screenshare never works, etc. Vesktop has worked out the box for me every time.
  • Prism Launcher: The best Minecraft client for linux IMO.

General PC:

  • Only Office: I prefer it over LibreOffice, though Libre is absolutely fine.
  • qpwgraph: GUI for managing audio inputs and outputs. Amazing utility if you're dealing with audio.
  • Opendeck: Great GUI for managing your stream deck, if you have one.
  • Cider: Apple music player. Paid ($3 one time). If you're a user who also has an iPhone or Macbook, I think it's well worth the three bucks.
  • PlasmaZones: A KDE equivalent to FancyZones, for you windows users who had PowerToys.

Command line:

  • Zsh: My preferred replacement for bash. I also prefer to use zsh with oh my zsh.
  • eza: A replacement for "ls".
  • yazi: Terminal based file browser.
  • zoxide: A replacement for "cd".
  • sdkman: My preferred tool for managing java installs on my system.

Context: I'm setting up Morrowind on my system (arch linux). Vanilla works geat.

I've been following this guide to install the total overhaul: https://modding-openmw.com/guides/auto/total-overhaul/linux#momw-tools-pack

Everything seems to be working, but it hangs at 98% and then fails. This has been consistent and I've hit a wall. Wondering if anyone else here has used umo and has seem something like this before. Ty!
