How long did it take you to find the right combo of meds? What lifestyle changes helped you?

Hi peeps!

I’ve been on my medication/diagnosis (bipolar 2, ADHD, GAD, Major Depression, IBS) journey for almost a decade and am beginning to feel really defeated by it all. Met with a new psychiatrist today and am very hopeful after speaking with her about current symptoms and concerns.

She’s having me hold off on Adderall 20mg for the next month and wants to introduce a low dose of Abilify (2mg) to see if it will help with the current anxiety, frustration and irritability I’m struggling with. This will be in addition to the 200mg of Lamictal I’ve been on for a little over two years. Also worth mentioning that I’m perimenopausal and was recently put on progesterone. That seems to be helping a little but this all just feels like a crapshoot sometimes and I’m wondering, if after time, you finally found the right combo or if this is just a lifelong journey and I should accept that?

TL;DR: I’m curious to hear from couples/dynamics where one partner is poly and the other is open. Can this dynamic be successful? Is it more common than I realize? How do you “make it work?”

I (36F) align with a poly lifestyle and find fulfillment in meaningful and romantic relationships. Not to say that open relationships aren’t meaningful, just that I prefer a romantic relationship vs. strictly sexual. My husband prefers a more NSA/FWB dynamic in external relationships.

I’m coming to y’all with vulnerability and an open mind. I’ve been struggling with this dynamic and trying to wrap my head around the idea that we desire different things. We have an otherwise great marriage, we’ll be celebrating 5 years this week, and my husband has grown to be very open and accepting to me being in relationship with my girlfriend of 2 years. I know I have work to put in on myself. I want him to feel free to explore and make connections as he sees fit for himself.

Any personal experience/advice, books, podcasts, etc are greatly appreciated!
