Anyone else having long-term reliability issues with ASUS liquid metal laptops?

I wanted to ask if anyone else with ASUS liquid metal laptops has experienced long-term reliability problems.

I have an ASUS ROG Strix SCAR 15 (2022) G533 that originally failed within the first month of ownership and needed a board-level repair under warranty. Recently, the laptop stopped booting again with very similar symptoms, and ASUS has now quoted a very expensive repair after weeks at the repair center.

After seeing discussions about liquid metal application issues on some ASUS laptops, I’m wondering whether repeated failures like this are more common than I realized, especially on models like the G15/G16/SCAR lineup.

For people who own these laptops:

  • Have you experienced motherboard failures, overheating, or temperature changes over time?
  • Did ASUS help if it happened outside warranty?
  • Has anyone switched from liquid metal to PTM7950 or standard thermal paste?
  • Would you still recommend ASUS liquid metal laptops for daily portable use?

I’m mainly trying to understand whether this is an isolated case or something other owners have run into as well.

Picked up my car tracker notifications and now I’m confused…

I dropped my car off yesterday for a simple transmission fluid change. Later that night I checked my insurance driving tracker app and saw the car had been driven to a neighborhood/residential area and stayed there overnight before being driven back to the shop this morning.

Total trip was around 30 miles.

Nobody mentioned a test drive or asked permission to take the car off-site, especially overnight, so now I’m wondering if this is something mechanics actually do sometimes or if this is completely out of line.

I’m heading to pick the car up now. How would you guys handle this situation?

Been testing IPTV services for 5 years. Went through 50+ providers. Hubstreamingservice. com is one of the few that didn't eventually disappoint.

Five years of testing IPTV services teaches you one thing fast: every provider looks amazing on a quiet night 😅

The real test shows up during a Champions League final ⚽🔥 a sold out PPV 🥊 or a chaotic Saturday with five matches running at once. That’s when you find out what a service is actually made of.

I’ve tested 50+ services since 2021. Some looked incredible for a month or two before the cracks started showing. Others didn’t even survive the first major sports weekend. After a while, the pattern became so predictable that spotting a dying service before it fully collapsed became second nature.

Hubstreamingservice broke that pattern in a way that genuinely stood out.

Peak-hour performance stayed consistently solid for weeks. Champions League nights, back-to-back PPVs, packed Premier League weekends ⚽📺 the streams held up every single time. Actual 4K that really looks like 4K, fast channel switching, and a VOD library that’s constantly refreshed with content people actually want to watch 🎬✨

What usually kills these services is simple: they grow subscribers faster than the infrastructure can handle. Then peak traffic exposes everything. After watching that happen for years, it honestly feels like Hubstreamingservice .com is managing the load better than most providers out there right now.

Not saying anything stays perfect forever. But as of 2026, if reliable live sports streaming matters to you, this is easily one of the strongest options I’ve used so far 👌🔥

No room for light stands on my desk: what are people using for lighting?

My desk is basically a cable disaster zone, so adding floor light stands was never really an option without constantly kicking something over. Lighting ended up being way more annoying than the actual streaming setup for almost a year.

I found a monitor-mounted light through an old thread here from someone dealing with the same issue, and honestly that solved most of the problem immediately. Been using the Neewer NL10 full time since then because it clips onto the monitor and doesn’t take extra desk or floor space.

Current setup is basically:

• Regular gaming/chatting streams: NL10 mounted above the monitor. Looks decent enough once I locked white balance manually since warmer settings looked too yellow on auto.

• Streams where face-cam matters more / recordings: Added a Neewer BP132 kit off to the side on a tiny stand. Definitely gives better control and looks cleaner on camera.

• Planned recordings or edited stuff: HB80C + softbox setup. Looks the best overall, but I only bother setting it up when I actually have time because it’s overkill for normal streams.

Started with just the monitor light for a couple months before adding anything else, and honestly I’d probably do the same again if I was rebuilding the setup from scratch.

Curious what other people with cramped desks or no floor space are using for lighting. Feels like there are probably smarter solutions I haven’t seen yet.

Got rejected because it “looked unprepared” over the dumbest thing

A friend of mine recently made it to the final interview stage for a role he really wanted. Everything was going well until the interviewer asked about a certification he listed on his resume.

He mentioned completing it in late 2023, but apparently his LinkedIn showed it was added in February 2024 instead. Literally just a timing difference on when he updated things online.

The interviewer paused and started digging into it like it was some FBI interrogation lol.

My friend got nervous, started overexplaining, lost his train of thought, and the whole vibe shifted after that. A few days later he got rejected and the feedback was basically that he “didn’t seem confident in his own experience.”

That part is what surprised me most. Not the mismatch itself, but how much interviewers seem to judge HOW you react under pressure now.

Feels like one awkward moment can outweigh an otherwise great interview.

Anyone else had an interview suddenly go sideways over something super minor?

What are the first settings/tweaks you change on a new Pixel?

Recently switched to a Pixel 10 Pro XL and one thing I still enjoy about Pixels is how customizable Android feels compared to most phones.

Whenever I set up a new Pixel, there are a few things I almost always change right away:

  • LTE over 5G most of the time
  • WiFi/Bluetooth scanning OFF
  • 60Hz unless I specifically want smooth display
  • limiting unnecessary background activity
  • only turning on Bluetooth/location when needed
  • turning off “mobile data always active”

I also try to keep apps lightweight and avoid unnecessary services running in the background.

Curious what tweaks or settings changes you guys usually make first on your Pixels?

Question: M4 Pro overkill or worth it compared to M5?

Hey everyone,

Could really use some advice since I keep changing my mind on this

I’m currently deciding between:

  • MacBook Pro M5 : 10-core CPU / 10-core GPU / 16GB RAM / 512GB SSD
  • MacBook Pro M4 Pro : 12-core CPU / 16-core GPU / 24GB RAM / 512GB SSD

Both are available for almost the same price from a local dealer, which is what’s confusing me.

For context, at work I use an M3 Max machine for apps like After Effects, Premiere Pro, Blender, Cinema 4D, Unity, and some heavier motion graphics/video work. This personal Mac probably won’t be pushed that hard all the time, but I’ll still be using similar creative apps regularly.

The M4 Pro feels like the better value because of the extra RAM and stronger GPU setup, but part of me wonders if choosing the newer M5 architecture would be the smarter long-term move.

Would appreciate any advice from people who’ve used either or were in a similar situation.

So venom mentioned that the symbiotes have a hive mind that spans across the entire multiverse...

Does that mean the venom from the tom hardy movies knows exactly what happened to the venom in the raimi movies?

If that’s the case, eddie must be so confused hearing about all these different spider-men lol.

I hope they explain the "multiversal knowledge" thing a bit more if he ever shows up in the mcu.

How do you guys interpret the hive mind stuff?

I know he’s done Inception, Bane, Mad Max etc. but the amount of work he puts into playing two characters at once is insane.

The physical comedy he does when venom is pulling him around or when he’s arguing with himself in the mirror is actually top tier acting.

You can tell he actually loves playing this character and it’s not just a paycheck for him. i really can’t imagine anyone else ever playing eddie now.

Who else thinks he carried this entire franchise on his back?
