Appreciation post: Hyundai 2025 N VGT (Gr. 1)

I just wanted to show some love for this car because it has become my favourite and it seems to be a bit under-appreciated!

It drives like a dream with the stock tune. Grip for days, even on hard tires. It does handle better with mediums or softs of course but not by much. Also very fuel efficient.

And it has so many uses! Add on a turbo and it can win all the Gr. 1 events (with fuel management) and absolutely demolishes VGT events. It does very well against Gr. 3 when detuned.

It is incredibly fun around Sardegna, and can just about do the whole race without refueling, perfect to grind those credits!

And personally I love the way it looks and the fact that it’s a hydrogen-powered EV, I just think that’s cool.

That is all!

I’m looking at getting either a home equity loan or home equity credit line from my credit union. The advisor I spoke to said I would need to pay a $400 fee to convert my “high-risk mortgage” to a “regular mortgage”. I’m taking that to mean changing it from insured to uninsured. Is that a thing?

Our home down payment was under 20 percent of purchase price, so our mortgage is insured.
Currently we have 150k of home equity.
Remaining amount owing on our mortgage is 198k.
We only recently started our second 5-year term (4.5 years left on current term).
We are looking to borrow $10k.

I’m not really clear on why I couldn’t borrow this money while keeping the mortgage insured.
