Hey everyone,

I’m working on an indie MMORPG called EmberQuest, and we’re at a point where we really need someone focused on level design / world building.

Right now the team is:
2 programmers
1 graphic designer
support + QA helping test and give feedback

We’ve got a lot of the core systems coming together, but the world itself needs someone dedicated to shaping it.

What we need help with:
Building out environments and zones
Working with low poly / Synty-style assets
Laying out areas so they actually feel good to explore and play in
Helping define how the world flows and feels

Looking for someone who:
Has some experience with Unity (doesn’t have to be crazy advanced)
Enjoys level design/world building
Can work with stylized/low poly assets
Has a portfolio (even small stuff is totally fine)

About the project:
EmberQuest is a small indie MMO inspired by older sandbox-style games.
We’re building it in the open, testing early, and taking a community-driven approach.

Pay:
This is revshare only right now. No upfront pay.
It’s very much a hobby / passion project at this stage, but we’re actively building and pushing updates.

Why join?
Honestly — if you’re someone who wants to:
Help shape a game world from the ground up
Be part of a small team where your work actually matters Build something real (not just a concept that never ships) Then you’ll probably enjoy this.

EmberQuest is now playable, and you can jump in today to help shape the game as it’s being built.

In EmberQuest Devlog #6, we’re kicking off a live development phase where the game is actively evolving with community feedback. This isn’t a polished release, expect bugs, changes, and even wipes, but that’s all part of building something great together.

This update also includes a major architectural refactor behind the scenes to set the foundation for future systems and scalability.

EmberQuest is an indie MMORPG inspired by classic sandbox RPGs where exploration, progression, and community-driven gameplay are at the core of the experience.

In this devlog we cover:
• EmberQuest is now playable – jump in today
• Introducing the live dev loop (updates, patches, and feedback cycles)
• A major refactor to improve long-term development
• How the community is helping shape the game in real time
• What to expect during early testing (bugs, wipes, rapid changes)

This is part of an ongoing series documenting the development of EmberQuest from the ground up, now with players actively involved.

If you're interested in MMO development, indie game dev, or want to be part of building a game from the beginning, now is the time to jump in.
