not the biggest fan of Forgeiend/muller fiend models

Has anyone tried converting a Khorne War Dog into something that reads clearly as a Forgefiend?

aiming to putt a War Dog on a similar-sized base, then adding Forgefiend parts, would make the model recognizable enough as a Forgefiend on the tabletop.

I have a second-hand Forgefiend model that I’m completely comfortable breaking down for parts. My plan would be to use pieces from it on the War Dog to give it more of the Forgefiend silhouette and weapon profile.

Has anyone done a conversion like this before, or seen one that worked well?

For real
Am I tripping on deep rock juice, or did Hearthband used to have a 1CP stratagem that let Hearthguard go back into Strategic Reserves if they were not in Engagement Range?

I was sure this existed, but I checked the current strats and it is no longer there.

Was it changed, removed, or do I need help?

I really fail to see the point of the Hammerhead railgun.

S20 looks great on paper, but it is still just one shot. Against the T11+ Monsters/Vehicles you usually want to target, the extra Strength often does not feel worth the risk of putting the whole unit’s output into one hit/wound/save sequence with influx of invul 4s around the ideal targets.

Anything smaller can usually be handled by Sunforge, Riptides, or other tools. Anything big enough to justify the railgun often has invulns, damage reduction, FNPs, or defensive strats, so the shot can just bounce.

Compared to something like a Votann Hekkaton with multiple S18 shots, or Vindicator tank with D3 (blast) has multiple shots, the Hammerhead feels too swingy.

itd better with a slightly lower Strength profile, maybe S16, but with multiple railgun shots D3+1 ? I get that it has threat projection, but as actual anti-tank it feels unreliable and not enough.

Would you say the Raptors or RavenGuard, are more level headed than other Space Marine Chapters when it comes to battlefield cooperation?

I do not mean “liberal” in a modern political sense, but more in the sense of being pragmatic, and less dogmatic than Chapters like the Black Templars, Marines Malevolent, Red Scorpions, or some of the more zealous Imperial forces.

The Raptors in particular seem like a Chapter that values stealth, survival, efficiency, and tactical results over glory, ritual, or rigid doctrine. Because of that, I could imagine them being more willing to temporarily cooperate with intelligent xenos if the alternative was worse.

For example, would Raptors or Raven Guard be more likely than most Chapters to work alongside groups like:

  • Eldar, if their goals aligned against Chaos or Tyranids
  • T’au, in a temporary “enemy of my enemy” situation even though shadow sun killed the previous chapter master, if the situation involved a greater threat like Chaos, Necrons, Tyranids, or Orks
  • Leagues of Votann, especially since they are more rational and their goals dont technically overlap with imperium and are less overtly monstrous than many xenos factions

Obviously, they are still Space Marines and still loyal servants of the Imperium, so I am not suggesting they would be genuinely pro-xenos or join in with greater good. But compared to more fanatical Chapters, would they be more likely to tolerate short-term cooperation if it served the mission.....or would they back stab?

The Raven Guard already have a reputation for being more independent, subtle, and concerned with oppressed human populations than some other Chapters. The Raptors take that even further with their practical, almost modern military style. That makes me wonder whether they would be among the Chapters most willing to make uncomfortable alliances when necessary.
