Pre- & postpartum clothing

Hi, I’m a FTM (28 weeks) due in August :) I’ve managed to get away with not buying any maternity clothing so far as my sister gave me some of her maternity dresses, and I’ve just been rotating through those and a couple of items in my closet that I could still fit into (eg loose-fitting bottoms and tops, stretchy dresses).

It has not been an issue so far but since most of the clothing items I can wear and be comfortable in are dresses, I’d like to get a couple more maternity bottoms/loungewear that’d be suitable for use in the hospital after delivery, for nursing and generally postpartum.

My closet is long overdue for a declutter and it has been rather confusing as to how much will my body have changed after having the baby (eg wider ribs/hips?) so I’ve just been putting off packing away my pre-pregnancy clothing/buying more clothing.

  1. I’d like to know from those of you who’ve been through this before, how do you deal with your closet/pre-pregnancy clothing? Do you just accept that you likely won’t fit into them, declutter, and use it as a chance for a style refresh?

  2. What are the clothing items/styles/features you found to be the most useful/value for money/has best longevity for pre- and postpartum? Eg low-rise vs over the bump, maternity-specific or just size up in regular clothing?

I love clothes but I’m also trying to shop more intentionally and get as much value out of what I buy. Plus limited storage in a flat! Would love to avoid buying something that’ll only fit me for a couple of weeks before needing new ones again due to bump getting bigger/pregnany to postpartum body changes etc. TIA! :)

I’m a FTM, 27 weeks pregnant, and since ~20 weeks, I’ve been struggling to get into the office due to a insomnia, hip and tailbone pain and a combination of both in the last couple of weeks.

I’m only expected in the office 1 day a week but I struggled even with that - 15mins walk to bus stop, 50mins commute each way, have a heavy 15” laptop I need to bring in plus lunch and water bottle, 9-6 work hours. My manager has been really supportive and is fine with me working from home and taking time out for breaks when I need. My work can also be done completely from home and I found myself working more effectively at home, being able to switch between sitting and standing, and a yoga ball or lying down during my breaks. Additionally I’m less stressed at home as I don’t feel as guilty leaving my desk for breaks. I’ve been doing the exercises, and everything else to minimise the pain or not worsen it but it always comes back if I walk, stand or sit for too long.

However, I’m aware and my manager has mentioned in passing that some of the senior management are a bit old school and would prefer seeing people in the office. There have been a handful of times now that I’ve tried to get myself to the office for that 1 day, only to have to turn back round and WFH instead as my tailbone was already unbearably painful before I even reached the office building. This morning, I only made it to the end of my street before having to turn back home and I’m now feeling like such a failure. I know I have it better than a lot of other pregnant people who have no option of WFH… This has been causing a lot of stress and anxiety especially since I’ve only just started in this job a couple of months ago, and I worry it’ll be an issue even though nobody has said anything.

I’m considering speaking with HR and my manager about putting in an official request to WFH fully. Is this reasonable? I think what I’m struggling a lot with, more so than the physical pain, is the immense guilt and feeling like I’m a wuss! I know if somebody else is in my position I wouldn’t think that at all but I can’t seem to shake off being so hard on myself about this…

Does anyone have this high chair and can share what they like and/or dislike about it? I’m keen to get one with a newborn seat and would grow with the child. This one checks all my other boxes (easy adjustments, foldable for easy storage).

It looks great but I can’t seem to find many reviews about it! TIA :)

Which would you pick? I like both art equally sentiment-wise, and this is a space where we socialise when we have people over but also where we spend a lot of our post-work evenings relaxing.

I was drawn to the colourful print for the sentiment and it also incorporates colours from our hallway bench cushion’s fabric, which I love a lot. I’m debating whether to repeat some of those colours in the living room through the wall art, or through an accent chair and smaller accessories. If doing the latter, then I’d pick the Matisse plain tree wall art instead.

My main worry is that I’ll get tired of the colourful wall art more quickly and then end up wanting to replace them… the size I’d want for this wall would not be cheap so I’d prefer replacing smaller decorations as they’re cheaper and less of a mental effort when it comes to shopping. Also unsure if the lighter weather is now influencing me to want to incorporate more colours and I’ll come to regret it in the winter months 😂 I hope my indecisiveness is coming through - help!

Ps: please ignore the naked ceiling lights! Will be replacing them soonish!
