What methodology do Abdulrahman Hassan and Abu Taymiyyah follow? Are they considered salafi speakers?
I could use some guidance on a situation I’m in.
I recently matched with someone on Zawaj. To facilitate initial contact, I used my number that I set up for my wali’s contact (my father). The match has now formally requested to speak to my wali.
The issue is that my father is a difficult and unpredictable person, and I’ve had challenges with him in the past regarding marriage decisions. ( turning people away without reason, getting angry and aggressive in the process, bad mouthing me or the prospect involved, etc) Because of this, I’m feeling unsure and anxious about how to proceed while still trying to stay respectful and within proper Islamic boundaries.
I want to be honest and do things correctly, but I also want to avoid creating unnecessary conflict or exposing the match to a stressful interaction too early.
I was sent a marriage cv and these were the names under scholars/speakers they listen to: Hamza Yusuf, Zaid Shakir, Khaled Abou El Fadl, and Sherman Jackson
I’m not familiar with any of them or their methodology.
Any insight on if they are credible would be greatly appreciated.
I’m starting to feel like getting married is more difficult than I expected. I’ve wanted it since I was 16, and despite years of trying, making du‘a, and putting in effort, nothing has come together. Things did not pan out the way I hoped. I think it’s best I focus on myself.
