Chipped tooth, I know it’s small but I don’t feel like my smile is the same. I’m scared if they shave it, I won’t look the same. I’ve heard a composite will just break and chip more tooth. What do I do ? I can’t even walk past a mirror without looking at this.

Hey guys, I feel I lost to this. I’ve had a dental obsession ever since I chipped my tooth unexpectedly. Ever since, my mind has always told me to “check” if my tooth is strong enough to not be chipped. I stopped using silverware to eat because I would feel the need to hit my tooth with it to “check” and make sure my teeth are Strong. It’ll be different things, I could have keys in my hand and feel the need to hit my tooth with it. I got over that compulsion for a while but last month it started back up again. This time I used a glass seasoning bottle to hit my tooth. It felt like I could not stop the compulsion no matter how hard I tried. I just had to check until it felt right. Now I have a chip on my other tooth. I freaked out. I had a panic attack. Now I’m dealing with the consequences of doing the compulsion. I spend hours looking at my tooth in the mirror. I spend hours researching how to grow enamel. I’m looking up different dentist and orthodontist to see if they can fix my tooth. I have not gone to another dentist yet because I’m afraid I’ll look different. I wish I was stronger and had not given in to the compulsion.

Any advice is appreciated. Thanks for reading
