Working Theory
I have an idea on the reasoning behind chapter 2’s Poisoned Bread.
According the given information, it can be applied that the murder happened while everyone was eating together, when Ulysses was killed by Poisoned Bread. To that extent, according to Biblical Scripture, during the last supper, Jesus said that someone amongst those present (that being Judas) would betray Jesus. Additionally, there are 13 people at the Passover, but only 12 present for the actual supper, and this is because Judas went to betray Jesus. One of the reasons Judas betrayed Jesus was due to greed, which could relate to Jean’s alleged connection to the drug ship theory.
So my working theory is that Jean (Resembling Judas), in order to return back to his crew and continue making money, killed Ulysses by poisoning the bread used at the dinner while everyone was together, then he left during the party while everyone was eating together avoid suspicion. To poison the bread, he avoids volunteering to help in the kitchen to make those making the food look more suspicious, then he poisoned the bread with what I assume to be a powder of some sort, which then gets mixed with powder, and the poison, which is fast-acting, kills Ulysses first.
This is only a working theory, but I’m genuinely curious to see if this is correct, as if there was more thought put into it, I think it would be interesting to theorize about how this case relates to the bible.
