Music tastes CAN be different.

Music tastes CAN be different.

Just to be clear, I don't like Cortis' music. I don't vibe with it. The only song that I liked from them was 'Joyride'. But I don't go around calling people r*tarted just because they like Cortis' music or start doomposting.

I have irl friends who LOVE Cortis' music but don't vibe with some of my fav kpop artists and THAT'S FINE. When music in itself has so many different genres, why should other people's music tastes have to go along with the type of music YOU like? Why do you think these 'music genres' exist in the first place?

Afaik initially, kpop stans used to drag Cortis and say - "they are not popular in their home country LMAO" - the usual fanwar thing. But now after they have achieved #1 on MelOn TOP100 - which mind you, even some of my ult groups haven't achieved it (hard truth to accept), kpop stans are calling Koreans r*tarded like hello???

This kind of shit sometimes makes me want to ACTUALLY get into them and support them. It's okay to accept that YOU are JEALOUS - that they achieved something that your faves didn't. I am jealous too. But I'm not praying for their downfall or getting hit tweets by shitting on them.

It's not THAT hard to respect people's music taste.

As a onedoor, I'm just a bit sad(?) not extremely disappointed

BOYNEXTDOOR might not be my ults but they always had a special place in my heart because undoubtedly they have one of the best discographies if not the best in 5th gen boygroups.

I have been a fan of them for more than a year and for me, my favourite EP is "HOW?" and followed closely by "WHO?" - these two straight up carry THE boynextdoor vibe and sound for me, which just made me fall in love with their music.

The recent release...well it's different. I, 100% agree that artists should be allowed to explore different genres as long as they keep that 'core' identity.

What do I mean by 'core' identity? I'll explain.

People are saying - "they have released hip-hop music before so what's wrong now?", "It just sounds like Dangerous", "That's why they release No Genre".

You know what makes 'Dangerous' different from 'Knock Knock Knock' even when there is still hip-hop elements to it? They kept their 'core' identity - 'boynextdoor' - playfulness and fun music.

I use a certain type of method to see if my stan-list follows an identity or not. Musical Imagery. If I'm listening to a song and then it clicks - 'oh this is something XYZ would release'. That's what I have for boynextdoor as well.

What makes this song very different from their identity is that - if someone made me listen to this song without telling me the name of the artist - I wouldn't have said boynextdoor. Like that thought wouldn't even cross my mind - until I listen to the voices carefully and be like 'oh this is jaehyun's voice or woonhak's voice'

"The boys are bound to grow up" - I know that. I know they will be releasing more mature music but the true essence of boynextdoor + mature music will be properly delivered by tracks which sound (or have themes) like "Good Boy Gone Bad" or "0X1=LOVESONG" by TXT - IN MY OPINION.

And with this post, I'm in NO WAY saying - "omg downfall of boynextdoor" or something along those lines. Just like I said, I'm a bit letdown - not extremely disappointed because I think I just can't be EXTREMELY disappointed by them lol.

Anyways, this was MY OPINION and I tried my best to explain what the song was lacking, again IMO.

Just what like I said above.

I'm so tired of this conversation - whenever an idol is getting praised for their vocals and if they are using a headset, others always chime in saying - "they aren't singing live", "lip-sync" but as soon as a handmic appears "OMG LIVE-SINGING" even though it's CLEARLY lip-sync.

I don't know why do fans think that using a handmic ALWAYS guarantees that the idols are singing live but whenever they use a headset it's considered lip-syncing.

Idols who don't have good vocal training WILL lip-sync even if they have a handmic.

I'm not saying it's bad to use handmic but DOWNPLAYING other idols' vocals just because they use headset is weird imo.

Fans should also keep in mind - Live MR IS also very commonly used to give the illusion that they are singing live. This could be applied to BOTH handmic and headset.
