Autokauf bei Händler - oft Blindkauf aktuell?

Halli hallo,

Hello fellow Redditors,

after 9 years of driving my gasoline car, I decided to get an EV and to buy a Cupra Born. I am living in Germany, so maybe some stuff is different here than in other countries.

I decided to get a Cupra Born pre-Infotainment Update, as the cost for the old Infotainment is around 20.000 to 25.000€ and the cost for the newer ones starts at 32.000€. My budget limit is 25.000€. I can't fathom that the smoother Infotainment is 7000+€ worth it. Also I dont drive long distances (30+ Minutes) in winter, so I don't need the battery-heating from MY25.

The facelift looks awesome, but buying a new car is mostly not a good idea, cause it loses it's value very fast. So maybe I look into that one after a few years with the old Born.

I have test driven the eBoost MY25 a few days ago and it was a crazy difference, coming from an old Skoda Fabia from 2003 with 70 PS. So laggy infotainment is probably no concern, coming from no infotainment at all.

Also I know what essentials I want to have in the car. Mainly the Back-Camera, the ACC, keyless entry and heating frontseats. I thought about the heatpump, but I heard they aren't that great on the Borns. HUD or the Beats soundsystem would be a nice to have, but nothing I particularly look out for.

I am also test-driving an eBoost Cupra Born from 2023 today, to really get a feel for the old infotainment as well, so I don't buy something I don't know.

Now the questions.

  • I regularly read Cupra v1, v2 and v3. I am unsure what the differences between those are. I thought there was the Cupra before mid 2024 and the one after, so old and new Infotainment. What is meant by v1, v2 and v3? Is there also a version between those two?
  • I have seen a lot of listings already about Cars claiming to have the ACC. But how do I actually know if it has ACC? Sometimes there is a Additional Button left to the "< MODE >" on the steering wheel and sometimes not, which is used to select the distance to the car in front of you. I know that the Travel Assist has two buttons over the Mode buttons. So what do I need to watch out for? Are there different kinds of ACC? Do they claim to have ACC even though they don't?
  • Is the CUPRA Mode and the 231PS a big difference to the 204PS? I like the buttons on the steering wheel, but is that just a toy used in the first weeks of the car and then the car is set in "comfort" or "range" mode, for general battery and wheel-rubber, saving?
  • The newest Version of the software should be 3.8.1. The software Code for that is 1771, is this correct?
  • A car dealer told me the Heatingpump is helping the battery to stay alive longer, cause I drive around 18.000km per year minimum, but I read here, that the cost of service increased by 25% to 50% cause of this additional service...

What else should I be looking out for when buying one? I set myself for a SoH minimum of 92% or 95+% SoH and low on kilometres. Preferrably early 2024 to have longer battery warranty (cause either I want to resell the car when it still as warranty, or drive it until the battery/motor dies). Also I got told to ask, that the previous owner was not a renting car company (cause of fast charge Loading cycles).

All the help appreciated, sometimes I wished there was a FAQ-Megathread and linked Videos to show differences, haha.

Thank you!
