So I’ve been dealing with a really difficult customer who was unhappy with a skincare product. She threatened to contact the BBB and file a chargeback if we didn’t refund her immediately.
To avoid escalation, I went beyond our usual policy (which requires the product to be returned) and issued a full refund right away.
A few days later, I get a notification that she’s opened a chargeback… on an order that has already been refunded. On top of that, I’m now also hit with a chargeback fee.
So now it looks like she’ll end up getting the money twice, which honestly feels insane. I didn’t even think it was possible to file a chargeback on an already refunded order.
Chargebacks are also very hard to win even with solid evidence, so I’m debating whether it’s even worth fighting.
Has anyone else dealt with this situation before? How did you handle it?
