EDIT: Please don’t post google reviews on my behalf.

This is simply to inform folks about my experience with a place and to be cautious and take an informed decision before booking this place. My money is lost, don’t want someone else to book without knowing what happened to me.

I had posted about it in the morning but had to take down the post as it had phone numbers of two women in the chat screenshots. I can’t get as low as them and let people harass them like they harassed us. All I want is to people to know the reality and do not incur a loss and get scammed like we did. I will edit and add those screenshots. Here is the google review I posted. We are helpless we lost money. Please save yourselves. Refer to images. I have chat screenshots of how rude dismissive and how bullying they were.

Google review
—————————————————————————————

Please take this into consideration before booking.

The house was dark, damp, smelly, dirty, and felt like an abandoned flat nobody had cared for in years. Weak AC, broken lights, peeling paint, filthy switches, smelly curtains, greasy kitchen, and a horrible damp smell everywhere. Even touching things felt disgusting.

The mixer grinder had fungus inside it and it smelled so bad I gagged and, the utensils were chipped and greasy, and the cups and glasses looked so dirty we could not use the kitchen. The linen and pillows smelled so bad we had to buy pillows our own just to sleep properly. The pillow cover had stains, the towel had haldi marks and the curtains were smelling bad. There is no view the light is depressing and the only balcony in the house faces a disgusting swamp. For the mixer with mould inside it, she said we are not even supposed to give it to you. She said I am not even supposed to give you a kitchen. You should feel lucky. All I felt was yucky.

We raised concerns on the very first day and were treated horribly for it. Instead of apologising or fixing things, the owner and her mother became rude, defensive, and insulting. We were repeatedly told we had “paid pennies” for the place, and that I should feel lucky for stay here. Imagine charging people ₹30,000 for this place for 8 days in off peak season for this dump and then acting like guests should feel grateful. We literally begged to let us go with a refund but they were SO rude and arrogant.

The lady honestly came across as complete bully during the conversations. At one point she actually shouted “I am being patient with you but you are incorrigible” simply because we complained about basic hygiene and cleanliness. She also kept bizarrely saying things like “I have put hats and jewellery for you,” as if a few tacky accessories somehow compensate for dirt, smell, broken appliances, and unhygienic conditions. It genuinely felt like we were being spoken to like children instead of paying guests. I really don’t know what she wanted us to do with those hats and beach jewellery. The obsession was honestly concerning. Maybe spend less time collecting costume accessories and more time cleaning the apartment.

She also shouted at me that she cannot buy new utensils for every customer to which I said atleast try replacing in a couple of years to which she said I did not ask you for your advice in a very condescending tone.

We were told to “go sit in a cafe” when we complained about the AC not working properly and the kitchen being unusable. Apparently paying for accommodation means you should avoid staying inside it. The caretaker was equally useless and looked and behaved very shady and angry. He did not even clear the trash.

We eventually left Goa early and took a complete financial loss. They are also pushing us like crazy to take the review down. Please avoid this place at all costs. I have chat proofs with the owner showing how rude and condescending they are and image proofs with location tagging.

Absolute horror experience at an Airbnb - The Amigos Villa Arpora

I just don’t know how this place at good reviews. Look at the pictures. We lost all our money. We checked out earlier but was refused a refund outright. I still can’t believe this place has positive reviews. We unfortunately booked it offline, not through Airbnb. Please be cautious. The lady is a total cunt.

Review I wrote

————————————————————————————-

The kitchen smelled so foul we literally gagged. The mixer grinder looked like it had been fermenting bacteria since 2009. Every drawer released a new rotten smell. Utensils were chipped, greasy, scratched, and disgusting enough to make us avoid cooking entirely.

The house itself was dark, damp, crumbling, and depressing. Broken lights everywhere. Weak AC. Peeling paint. The only balcony faces a disgusting Swamp. Photos online were wildly misleading. Paint is chipped off at so many places. The pillow had a horrible smell and a big patch on the pillow cover, we had to buy our own pillows. Its extremely cluttered with their own heavily used stuff. The towel had haldi patches on it. The shower head was throwing water with broken holes.

The caretaker did not once take out the trash in 4 days. He seemed real shady.

The owner was the strangest part of the experience. Instead of fixing anything, this psychotic lower middle class aunty seemed deeply invested in showing off her tacky hats and jewellery like we were trapped in some low-budget flea market fashion show. The obsession was honestly concerning. Maybe spend less time collecting costume accessories and more time cleaning the property. She said “I AM
NOT EVEN SUPPOSED TO GIVE YOU A KITCHEN GO EAT OUTSIDE”.

The mother-daughter host duo were rude, dismissive, and manipulative the second we asked for a refund. One of them even disconnected the call and accused us of “finding faults.” Finding faults was not necessary, look at the images for reference!

And despite all this, they refused to refund us after ruining our trip. Their excuse? The disgusting appliance “wasn’t part of the listing.” Apparently hygiene also wasn’t part of the listing. No wonder they refuse refunds. Who would willingly stay in this slum-like apartment.

Stay here only if your standards are genuinely slum level and you think mold, stink, grime, and discomfort are acceptable hospitality. Otherwise avoid this place like a biohazard. I waited for a refund before writing this review but she did mot refund even though we checked out days earlier out of pure desperation.

I am an ex-management consultant with over 9 years of experience across India and Europe. After my MBA, I worked in Europe for a few years before moving back to India to build my own business. For the last 2.5 years, I have been running a profitable B2B venture. I also act as an independent consultant for small and med size companies in India and Dubai on PnL improvement, fundraising, GTM, operational excellence, and digital transformation.

While the business is profitable, I am finding it difficult to predict stable future cash flows, and I also took a financial hit from an investment last year. I am now looking to transition back into the workforce and would love some perspective on where to begin.

Have you hired candidates with a career break of nearly 3 years? I am highly confident in the value I can bring across strategy, transformation, operational improvement, P&L management, and scaling initiatives. Location is not a constraint.

Prior to entrepreneurship, I worked on corporate strategy, M&A, value creation, and EBITDA improvement engagements with leading consulting firms in India and Europe.

Any advice or leads on how to get started, or if you had success transitioning would be very helpful!
