Are corner shops dying?

I just went to buy some stuff from a shop that was well furnished 5 years ago and is now mostly empty (no cigarettes, half of the fridges empty, 2 bottles of vodka...). I know proximity shops are doomed as supermarket take over, the same way petrol station have moved outside of the city, but I feel it is a staple of Eastern Europe and I am wondering if that shop is the exception or, more likely, a sign of the changes.

How is your corner shop doing?

Do we actually know what Perplexity is doing?

I originally saw it as a search engine on steroids, an AI LLM able to search and present results in an optimal way. But I used both GPT itself (free) and the Perplexity (pro) GPT engine and the difference is absurd. Perplexity clearly aims to please and will always pretend to have the answer (then apologise when told that the answer is utter BS, whether the answer was correct or not). So since both use the same engine with the same version (when configured to do it), what exactly is the added layer/benefit of Perplexity? My original understanding was that Perplexity used web engines/resources and GPT used its training (so anything published after it was trained is unknown to it) but this is obviously incorrect.

MF is very capable despite some aspects not everyone might like (the keyboard being the main one). But I feel it is far from perfect and, personally, I think it is really lacking when it comes to FM.

What would you say is something the MF does not do well enough?
