Handmade Microfreak Case Mod

Hi all! Figured I’d share this here. I was inspired by several other posts on this sub to mod my freak minimoog style.

With the help of my dad and his infinite scrap resources, we crafted the wooden end cheeks, and used some spare aluminum sheet metal for the base and back cover. I had a ton of fun planning and executing this. No 3D printer, but a jig saw and a dream.

Hope y’all enjoy! I know I am.

Using MicroFreak as a Kick!

Today I was playing around with my synths and I tried to use MicroFreak as a percussive synth, It ended jo really cool if you ask me!

I just got a Microfreak. After going through all the presets, while it’s super cool, I feel like I maybe got too excited and didn’t research well enough.

I make sample-based lofi hiphop stuff, upbeat though and also jam with my SP 404 mk2 with a guitarist friend.

Can Microfreak fit in my mix here or are there better options that have more “traditional” sounds?

Sorry if this is confusing. Appreciate your advice

Went to go take the module part out of my MicroFreak and insted propped it up like this. Looked sick so I kept it. Put a layer of double sided tape on the bottom to hold the body up. Used double sided sharpies (the ones with the thinner pen tip, put it in the screw hole) on the back and propped it up. Glued them in.

Just wanted to see if anyone else has done this, or if im a first! Lmk what yall think.

TC Electronic - MS100 for MicroFreak? Good choice or not?

Hello, I was planning on investing on pedal(s) for MicroFreak! And I recently came across this processor - MS100 (which is for $150) and was considering this as my option for what it offers! However, would love to hear some feedback or anyone experience with this processor!?

Also, this would be my first hardware for effects! So any suggestions or alternatives?

MF is very capable despite some aspects not everyone might like (the keyboard being the main one). But I feel it is far from perfect and, personally, I think it is really lacking when it comes to FM.

What would you say is something the MF does not do well enough?

I have a project doing live electronic music sets with a friend, and every time we get together I have problems with the MicroFreak, only with the MicroFreak. The keyboard and all those touch controls freeze and it gets stuck on a note, it won’t let me record or change settings, etc. I get around it by using a MIDI keyboard to control it, but I still have issues anyway, like it not syncing properly, or the sound getting stuck on a note. It’s really frustating. Does anyone know how to fix this? I’d heard it might be a grounding issue and that powering it via USB would be better. I tried that, and I want to believe it helped a bit, but it still works like shit.

It's new, used only few times a very well treated.

Hi y’all! I got a MicroFreak stellar and was loving it for a while but I notice every so often it will hold a note far longer after my finger is off the key. Even on init patches that don’t have any settings changed. Sometimes I’ll be playing and one of the keys holds the note after I’ve taken my finger off. What can I do to fix this? Should I sell it and get the minifreak instead since that one has regular keys instead of the touch circuit board ones? I’m not sure if it’s a me problem since I have sweaty hands or what. I reached out to Arturia and they weren’t much help. I’ve tried wearing shoes like they said and still the same result. I’ve got the plug it came with plugged into the wall this happens when I’m using a DAW and when I use an external amp/speaker. If I resold it would I need to disclose that it is doing this? I bought it used on Facebook marketplace. Any advice helps thanks a bunch.
