How do I get rid of this banner?

It just stayse there. I do not see an exit x or anything. And if your prompt is too long it gets hidden behind this hovering Computer banner.

Change to the mobile app, can anyone help me?

There seems to be a change to the Perplexity mobile app where now if you hit "Enter" or "Return" after a sentence, to create a new line, it's suddenly sending your entire response to the AI. I hate this change because it basically means you can't format your text on phone or create spaces. As soon as you press the Enter key it sends the query.

Has anyone else experienced this? I can't find a setting in the options to turn it off or revert it to the way it was before.

Time to leave perplexity.

With all of its pros. This years changes without notice to the pro subscription and the rampant up selling. I'm done. All the value I got out of my pro subscription is now null this year.

Perplexity is now chasing after enterprise business like the rest.

I'm tired of these companies giving up on average consumers and chasing the money. There comes a point where we push back and don't buy their product anymore.

Why is perplexity not returning the files?

Many times, perplexity says it has created the files, however, I couldn't find them anywhere. Is this happening with just me, or does anyone else also notice this issue?

I am using Perplexity Pro.

2 simple tasks cost me $15, can someone explain?

I ran 2 basic scrape tasks and google sheets, and it legit ate $15 of credits. I'm so confused how anyone is using this daily. Codex is already doing most all of this and pretty much unlimited. I think its safe to say GGs.

I've forgotten about Perplexity the past year. What happened - it's pure sewage now.

Perplexity is no longer reliably a factual source somehow?

Weren't there a lot more models on display.

# Where tf did grok go to?

I have a free pro subscription but wouldn't use it now, since I can't use any quality models to get a truthful or helpful response to basic text Input.

The models they have now are Chatgpt. Not as reliable or truthful - but hey, buy chatgpt go and fuck Perplexity I say.

Perplexity have Gemini - my phone has that by default.

Sonar is poor - end of. Nemotron , a kimi downgrade.

# The final straw

Claude is the only AI that has avoided "full enshitification". Please bring back 4.5 though. It's what I use daily for reliable chat.

Anyway - Perplexity Claude is not real Claude.

How, - I have no idea. It's worse than Copilot.

**Who in their right minds uses this, never mind pays any subscription is beyond me.**

I let Computer ship and break a production site this weekend - lessons learned

Ran Computer (hosted) and Personal Computer (local Mac) side-by-side Fri–Sun. Burned ~2,100 credits across two runs. Shipped a production site, broke it, rebuilt it. Honest field report below.

For context: I used to lean heavily on Perplexity, then moved most of my work to Claude Code and ChatGPT, plus some Gemini/Grok. I picked up Pro again mainly to see whether Computer can actually automate the stuff I currently juggle across a few tools on my Mac.

1. Stack Pro before Max if you can.

On my account, Pro Computer credits and Max Computer credits behaved as separate pools. I started on Pro, burned through the 4,000 Pro bonus credits, then upgraded to Max and got the full Max Computer bonus on top (35,000 in my case). That netted me ~39,000 total vs ~35,000 - if I’d gone straight to Max.

This seems promo and rtiming-dependent, but if you’re eligible, it’s a nice way to squeeze extra runway out of Computer before committing to Max.

2. Filesystem-first beats URL-first (in my tests).

Early runs, I pointed Computer at live URLs for content that already existed as markdown on my Mac. The token/credit cost came out around 3–5x higher, and the model drifted more on formatting. When I switched to local `.md` paths on Personal Computer, outputs were tighter and the same work used roughly a third of the credits.

For me, it was: Markdown > HTML > transcripts as input, both for quality and cost.

3. One artifact per run.

I tried to do “site update + new page + backend function” in one big brief. That single run cost 1,087 credits over 59 minutes. Doing the same work as three scoped runs (one per artifact) would have been cheaper and much easier to revert piece by piece.

Today, Computer feel sharper at one thing well than at being a giant multi-tool orchestrating everything in one shot.

The miss: no git gate. I let Personal Computer deploy straight to Vercel with no GitHub repo in the chain. It worked. Then a follow-up run drifted hard on brand and design, and I had nothing clean to revert to. I ended up rebuilding the git history from production and spent hours on cleanup.

Rule I’m living by now: local clone → GitHub → Computer opens a PR → human reviews/merges → Vercel auto-deploys from main. Never let Computer push straight to prod.

Two asks for the Perplexity team:

1. A first-class “lock file” primitive.

Right now, I paste a `BRAND-LOCK.md` into every prompt with “DO NOT MODIFY.” A true immutable-input concept (with diff/highlight if Computer even touches it) would prevent the kind of slow brand drift that cost me Saturday.

2. A live credit meter in the Computer UI during a run.

Today, I only see the final cost in the thread/usage view; there’s no way to see “this run is already at 600 credits” while it’s executing. A running counter with an easy “abort” button would let me kill bad runs before they quietly burn 1K+ credits.

I’m planning to keep running Computer on real work for the next couple of months and will share a short field report each weekend. If you’ve found different ways to save credits or avoid drift, I’d love to compare notes.

Computer Ad In The Way (desktop)

When typing a lengthy prompt, the computer ad at the bottom of the main screen obstructs my view. I accidentally clicked on the ad while typing a multi-line prompt, which switched the computer to the ad screen and cleared the prompt field.

This is an extremely frustrating experience. Is there a way to remove this ad?

Should I buy Perplexity max ? Perplexity said no.

Today I tried to upload some 12ko file in a thread. The option is locked and if I click on it, it tells me that I can pay 167€/month. So I asked Perplexity itself what's going on (yes I was wrong in my prompt, 167, not 250) ? Here is the conclusion of Perplexity (translated from french).

>"Ah ok, that's what you're saying: there's a hidden weekly upload limit. You've reached your weekly file upload quota, not a technical size limit.

>The Problem Identified

>Perplexity Pro has hidden weekly upload limits. Contrary to what was supposed to be "unlimited," you can only upload a limited number of files per week. Once reached, the button locks and proposes a paid upgrade. It's clearly not transparent: even support doesn't have official numbers to give.

>What's Behind It

>The 250€/month popup you're seeing is probably an Enterprise Max proposal, which offers much higher quotas (1000 uploads per week vs much lower limits for Pro). That's aggressive marketing: you paid for Pro, and when you hit the invisible limit, you have no choice but to pay 12 times more.

>Your Options

>Wait until Sunday: You'll likely regain access on Monday (week restarts)

>Contact support: At support@perplexity.ai, explain exactly this problem. Mention that you paid 12 months upfront without knowing a weekly limit existed. It's a legitimate complaint about commercial transparency

>Don't pay 250€: That's clearly a commercial trap

>It's a questionable practice. You're entitled to request a refund or credit if Perplexity didn't clearly state these limits before your purchase."

Honnestly, I totally agree with perplexity, perplexity uses a questionable practice. And of course I'll wait until Sunday, we already are Monday after all.

Is there an alternative ?

I like to use it to make some research, like a super-advanced search engine. The "select text > verify" function is important to me. I also like to use it to brainstorm ideas, concepts, theories, find weak points, track inconsistencies, pros, cons, etc.

I should be able to use it like this for the remaining time of my subscription without limitations, I guess. I dont upload files that often but it's quite a huge limitation for absolutely no reason. And I think it's a good reason to look for alternatives.

I Tried chatGPT but the reasoning isn't at the same level, the content is full of mistakes, and sources are usually irrelevant. Never tried anything else since Perplexity works very well for all of this.

Computer on pro plan

Hello everyone. Long story short: I'm contemplating subscribing to the pro plan since I got the student discount, making it only 9 usd/mo

The main reason for this is I wanna play around with computer, as I heard you can use computer on pro now as opposed to computer being max exclusive back when it first released iirc. The thing is, after a bit of searching, I saw that pro users don't get monthly credits for computer??? I get that compute is hella expensive but wth? Can anyone confirm?

Any and all help is greatly appreciated 🙏🏻

Is anyone else noticing that ChatGPT seems to be completely down for everyone right now?

I got booted from ChatGPT on all my devices, and now I'm just getting hit with error messages whenever I try to log back into my account.

Claude not thinking at all?

Hey all, I noticed that recently, when setting Claude 4.6 Sonnet to "think", it literally does not seem to think for a second.

It takes the exact same time to output the first letter as when set to non-reasoning. And this happens across various prompts and complexities

This doesn't happen with Gemini, Nemotron and GPT. Does anyone experience this issue too?

Max Account Drained Already…Help!

So I got the max account to get a ton of work done but burned through all of my credits well before the renewal date. The bonus credits they give for first time set ups are incredibly deceiving to what the monthly plan bandwidth actually gives.

10k credits is such a tiny amount in the grand scheme of things. I set up a whole system and now think I have to abandon perplexity entirely.

$1/100 credits is a bit obscene.

Anyone else having these issues?

How are you working through things?

I even try to have it delegate tasks to Claude code so that I’m not burning more credits on builds…

How can I prevent getting switched from Gemini to Claude Sonnet? (on Pro)

I'm trying to generate the beginning of a story (for personal entertainment, not publishing) and I keep getting hit with "Prepared using Claude Sonnet 4.6 Thinking because Gemini 3.1 Pro Thinking was inapplicable or unavailable". It's just a regular story, no prohibited content or anything, and my space instructions aren't problematic either.

I know people are saying Claude or GPT are better at writing but I like the way Gemini writes. I tried other random prompts like "generate a short story about ducks" and it goes through without problems.

Is there some kind of trigger or something about token count maybe? I don't know, just grasping at straws here.

Any help is appreciated!

Gemini have been redirecting to GPT for 3 days

It started 3 days ago, 8 times out of 10 gemini just take forever to generate anything and when it finally generate it's not gemini, it say "gemini wasn't available and instead it used GPT"

What's weird is that it doesn't seem to happen for short chat, only longer ones, gemini always generate at first but when the chat last 7 or 8 prompt, then it doesn't anymore

It's not the censorship, there is nothing in my prompt that would cause the "gemini just block the answer" censorship, that only happens for really f*cked up stuff, and it's really not the case here

I didn't notice any change on AI studio so it probably doesn't come from gemini API directly

So I would really appreciate that
1 whatever you did that messed it up, you change it back
And 2, that when something like that should happen, instead of redirecting without my consent to a shittier model and loosing one of my VERY limited messages to a bad answer, it would just say "sorry gemini wasn't available" and generate NOTHING, allowing ME to choose what to do next without wasting my message

Conflicting Credit Information

I have been testing what I could do with the skills and subagents until the end of the original trial period of Perplexity Computer.

Yesterday, I received an email saying that I received new bonus credits. When I tried to use them, it quickly stopped me and told me I ran out of credits but it shows that I still had more. Was this a mistake and I didn't receive anymore credits or do I actually have more?

Fake News

I’ve been fed a few news items that are fake over the last couple days. They have all been baseball related, about players getting hurt or traded.

Maybe I’m seeing others too, but embarrassingly, I only have the ability to spot the important errors like who plays sports for what team.

I can’t use Perplexity for news at all if it’s making up a portion of the content. It’s a bit dystopian.
