Pinterest 2026: Old Slippers and Original Art Get the Same Views

Well, what I'm saying is, today I uploaded a photo of my old, dirty, torn slippers and a photo of a painting. And they both got the same number of views, these pins, as well as other pins, actually. It's a practical idea for a flash mob ha ha. I mean, I don't even know how to comment on this. Do you have any comments on this?

[Discussion] How do artists build careers today.

How do you see the development of an artist’s career today, when artists have practically been pushed out of everywhere?

Maybe we should just forget grammar and proper writing completely at this point and start writing with mistakes on purpose.

What's wrong? What don't I understand? I already write dashes by hand, but because there are rules for using language, and in some sentences you need to write a dash. Or should I write a dash as a word? What is the world coming to? Maybe we should just forget grammar and proper writing completely at this point and start writing with mistakes on purpose. What’s the next requirement going to be?

I’m dealing with a strange situation. I upload pins to Pinterest that are simply photos of my paintings created with oil or acrylic paint. However, several of my works were flagged as modified or AI-generated images.

I honestly do not understand how this is possible, since these are real physical paintings. Has anyone experienced something similar, and what would you recommend doing in this situation?

Has anyone here used Google Cloud startup credits for developing a startup? I’d be interested to hear about your experience-how long did the process take, and what kind of startup do you have?

I d also be interested in hearing from startups that applied but did not receive the credits.

What's going on with Pinterest? Lately, I've noticed that all my pins are getting the same number of views. They're 5, 10, the first day 5, 7, the second day 10, then 30, they reach 50 and then stop. What's surprising is that I've even tried changing the descriptions—it doesn't matter whether they have a description or not, but I'm an artist, and I have pins of paintings. I've changed these pins in different ways, made different reels, different mockups, photographed them on walls at home. It's just all the same. How are you doing with this? And it started not so long ago, probably at the beginning of this year. And I'd even like to point out that all my artist friends are in a similar situation, or even worse. Just look at one day, 5 views. All the paintings, regardless of whether they have a description, are there, but there's no description that they're reels. How are you doing?

What I see happening is that large platforms for promoting artists are becoming so overloaded that buyers get lost, and artists receive almost zero visibility unless they get featured in curated selections or are already well known.

But now it has gone even deeper. Even if you are a well-known artist with sales, if your sales suddenly drop, the algorithms will throw you out again and replace you with someone else, and you are no longer “in the loop,” so to speak.

The same thing is happening with social media platforms, which are now oriented toward trashy entertainment rather than anything deep or meaningful. Logically, insane entertainment content will always generate more engagement than art.

The same thing has happened with Pinterest. Pinterest also started pushing the most clickable content, and paintings obviously are not included in that category.

As a result, a strange situation is happening where local platforms with less noise become more understandable both for buyers and for artists, where you can gain visibility without algorithms in chronological order.

Another thing that also affects this is shipping cost. For example, shipping a painting within Sweden may cost around $20. But if I send the same painting to America, shipping may already cost around $200.

Accordingly, it becomes easier and more logical for an American buyer to find something similar locally, especially considering the huge selection available there. The same applies to Swedish buyers-it is simply more выгодно and convenient for them to buy from artists inside Sweden and receive affordable local delivery instead of paying extremely high international shipping costs.

What do you think about this?

Here are my paintings. I’m an artist based in Sweden, and my work sells very well locally — in fact, I often can’t keep up with demand.

I recently joined Saatchi Art, but I’m getting almost no views there. It doesn’t just feel like low engagement — it feels like the works aren’t even being shown to people at all.

It gives me the impression that either the platform doesn’t provide visibility unless you fit a certain style, or something else is off.

I’m attaching a few of my paintings here. You can also check my Saatchi Art profile by searching for “Lana Blink.”

What do you think could be the issue? I’d appreciate any feedback or criticism.

I’m looking for places where works are simply shown to viewers — not hidden behind engagement metrics or curator bottlenecks.

Ideally:
— no “zero visibility” problem
— no opaque ranking systems
— direct exposure to buyers

If you’ve had real experience with platforms like this, I’d appreciate your input.

Artists, I’d like to hear your perspective.

Lately, it feels like algorithms have too much influence on how art is seen online.

On many platforms, you can upload a painting and it may not be shown to anyone at all. Zero visibility. At the same time, from a viewer’s side, the experience also feels broken: you click on one artwork — sometimes even by accident — and then you get a stream of very similar works, whether you were actually interested or not.

It creates a strange situation:
artists are not seen, and viewers are not really finding what they’re looking for.

To me, this feels like a degradation of discovery rather than improvement.

What has your experience been? Have algorithms helped your visibility, or limited it?
