Late onset and or diagnosis in older people for ADD/ADHD (while already having an autism diagnosis)
Have any of you who sought an adhd/add diagnosis later in life been told that the typical course for diagnosis of ADD/ADHD is generally not a good indicator due to comorbidity (Like anxiety, ptsd, history of other diagnosis) so you were prescribed meds as a way to determine if they can help the symptoms?
Some jerk in another sub totally claimed they know more than my doctor and that its impossible that my doctor prescribed Ritalin without a formal diagnosis. But just because that isnt most people's experience, doesnt mean its not true. This type of "medicine trial" (not in the sense of a study conducted for an adaptation approval) is used all the time for all sorts of psych meds. And I think it is incredibly ableist for anyone to deny that someone can have an experience with their own unique medical issues that doesnt match whatever the ableist believes.
But because this jerk claimed its impossible, im curious if anyone else had had a similar experience.
Id love to reveal this ableist, but I can't bc its against the group rules. So please dont ask.
