Mayamma - Ahiri

A musical masterpiece! The lyrics are evocative and touching and it is a heartfelt prayer to the Mother Goddess. What better than listening to Mayamma (I especially like Abhishek Raghuram's version) in the evening? Which singer's version do you prefer? I also like Kruthi Bhat (Vittal)'s rendition, albeit a small snippet!

Ahiri transports you to an other realm amd drips in Bhava, and which is why the myth of not playing Ahiri at concerts subsists because it is a 'strong' raga and it can be difficult for the vibe to meander to another song(s), from the song in Ahiri.

Thoughts on the song and the raga? Do share and let us discuss.

Carnatic music lovers - Germany

Hi, it would be great to have a group of sorts (to begin with, you can directly DM me) of Carnatic music lovers based in Germany. We can discuss songs, ragas, the technical aspects, and upcoming concerts in Germany. Suggestions more than welcome.

May you find comfort and hope.

AM is a weird process and I've seen a lot of friends go through this. Learnings which I hope will help you'll:

  1. If you desire a specific kind of partner (obviously not unrealistic, wanting a guy to look like Clooney or a girl to look like Salma Hayek) don't be afraid to not settle until you get someone reasonably close. Fight the good fight, and improve yourself in areas which you think will get you a better partner.

  2. Focus on your career because your mind needs to be occupied and not needlessly deflect on 'why is she not texting'.

  3. No replies is a 'yes' answer - a 'yes' that the other side is not interested.

  4. Don't give in to peer pressure - once married, it is EXTREMELY hard to undo. Delete social media for awhile, there's anyway nothing useful on Instagram.

  5. A gym can definitely improve physique and mental health and make you more attractive.

  6. Temporary setbacks are part of the process and it means you're trying. Always remember, five years from today is NOT the same as today. If you have a bad day or a rejection, think of stock markets in March when everyone felt it was doomsday. We need to go through March to get to April.

Wish you the very best.

My advice to y'all as a seasoned investor with CAGR 15% and more - diversify into NASDAQ or SPY. They are also technically a mutual fund - baskets of stocks. *styworks is a good broker, for example. Your distributor won't care because he won't get commission. Allocate 20% of your portfolio towards international equities. You also have additional gains from the dollar. Reduce exposure to Indian large caps. I am NOT endorsing any specific broker.

Feel free to ask me questions. I just want to guide people because there are too many sharks out there wanting to make a quick buck off commissions.

My wife is talented and qualified and is now taking a bit of a career break to consider fertility treatment (parameters are above normal). She is snapping at me sometimes because she feels my career goes 'unobstructed'. She also gets some passive income (decent amount around 15-20 lakhs) from previously invested assets. How to make her feel better?
We own a home and have investments also so there's no 'need' of her working but yeah, we all are indoctrinated for 20+ years to go for a job lol
