Happy late 3rd birthday to the spin-off that wasn't.

Happy late 3rd birthday to the spin-off that wasn't.

I understand, they were trying to manage the budget costs, but I just hope a Shadow/Tails spin-off will come to the big screen and not our device screens.

(Oops, I mean 2nd birthday.)

Charizard being a fighter in Smash works, but I can't say the same of Squirtle and Ivysaur. In my opinion, making Charizard solo in Smash 4 was the right thing to do. Squirtle and Ivysaur are better off as Poké Ball Pokémon.

Additionally, Incineroar is also a Pokémon I feel doesn't belong as a fighter, because if we end up getting a Grass-type in Smash 6 to complete the element trio, Charizard fits in way more than ol' Incin.

*See what I did there?

Quirky 13-year-old Hana Sachiko is just a normal high school girl, whose parents own a tea shop in Japantown, San Francisco, but she yearns for significance. Excitement builds when Hana hears that her long-lost uncle Riki will be coming over to move in with the rest of his family, but when he arrives, they're treated to a big shock. Two months ago, an ancient curse had turned Riki into a giant Tanukitsune - part tanuki, part kitsune, 9-feet-tall, fluffy, and somehow increased in appetite. Seen by those around him as a dangerous beast, Riki feels he no longer fits in, and desperately wants to go back to being human. When Hana learns her uncle's pain, she volunteers to guide him - alongside some hilarious friends - on a journey to break the curse, and along the way, not only does Riki get to spend some quality time with his niece, but soon learns that being a Tanukitsune is a lot more fun than he could have thought.

NOTES:

You may remember how Turning Red and K-Pop Demon Hunters had plenty of similarities and anime-esque moments along with a cool band, but the former's theme was Chinese, and the latter's was Korean. Well, I plan on having Uncle Beast be the Japanese counterpart.

For the studio behind this movie, my pick would be Illumination. I know their recent films aren't too decent, but they're my favourite studio.
