I'm wondering how differently people will answer this one. What makes reading online easier for you?

I have ASD and ADHD, and reading online has always been a mixed experience for me. Some pages flow, and others feel like wading through chunky soup, and I've spent a long time trying to figure out why.

I've been experimenting with a typography method that bolds the first portion of each word to help my eye anchor to each word as I move through text. It's made a real difference to me, though I know neurodivergent experiences vary widely.

Curious what other people here find helps. Whether that's fonts, spacing, contrast, line length, or something else entirely. What makes reading feel easier for you?

Has anyone experimented with accessibility-focused formatting for their KDP books?

I've been reformatting some of my public domain reprints using a typography method designed to help readers with dyslexia — it involves bolding the first portion of each word to guide the eye through the text.

Wondering if any other KDP authors have thought about this angle, or whether you think readers would value it as a selling point. Is accessibility something buyers care about when choosing a book?

Does typography affect how much you enjoy reading a book?

I've been thinking a lot about how the visual presentation of text affects the reading experience — not just aesthetics, but things like how easily your eye moves through a sentence, how much effort it takes to track from line to line.

Do you notice a difference between well-formatted and poorly-formatted ebooks? And do you think publishers pay enough attention to this, or is it an afterthought?

I'm curious what people here find most helpful when reading online. Is it the font? The line spacing? The contrast? The length of paragraphs?

Do any of you format your books with accessibility in mind?

Curious how many self-published authors think about readers with dyslexia

or ADHD when choosing fonts, layout, and formatting.

What do you do differently, if anything?
