Are you guys against capital punishment?

I was scrolling Reddit, and saw https://www.reddit.com/r/TwentiesIndia/comments/1t6c44t/i_am_very_proud_of_her/

and then posed a question to people of my country here : https://www.reddit.com/r/AskIndianFeminists/comments/1t6k5tr/are_you_guys_against_capital_punishment/
where members of the community seems to majorly for it.

Personally, I am opposed to the death penalty in all circumstances. Some of my reasons are:

  1. It is inhumane.
  2. The state should not have the authority to decide whose right to life can be taken away.
  3. In cases involving sexual offences, capital punishment may discourage reporting, especially when the perpetrator is a family member or someone close to the victim, because the victim may not want to feel “responsible” for their death.
  4. If offenders know they could face execution, they may be more likely to kill their victims in an attempt to eliminate witnesses.
  5. Wrongful convictions are a serious concern. Since 1973, nearly 190 people on death row in the United States have later been exonerated. Given the condition of India’s justice system, the risk of such errors is deeply concerning.

Are you personally against capital punishment or not? and if you are against capital punishment will you apply it consistently incases of abuse rising to the levels of Jeffery Epstein?

I was scrolling Reddit, and saw https://www.reddit.com/r/TwentiesIndia/comments/1t6c44t/i_am_very_proud_of_her/

Even though the post itself was fake, I decided to read the comments to understand people’s reactions to the case. A large number of commenters supported the idea, and some argued that rapists should receive the death penalty.

Are you personally against capital punishment for all crimes, or none, or specific?

"All men", doesn't mean all men are criminals - it's a way to express to be cautious before men and to express past trauma. Suppose a man who has been assaulted by multiple women, if he goes on to say "All women", that would appear wrong at first glance, but upon understanding the context it really doesn't. Considering many girls face this type of trauma, in a magnitude smaller or larger - "All Men" is really not an attempt to hate men.

Note: Deleted the earlier one, because I am so dumb that I wrote the wrong title. :(
