How do you deal with character designs? (Especially for those who can't draw)

I've been doing 2 Danganronpas in my mind, and the main one has the issue that I think most of the character designs feel lame as hell

I don't know if it's because I don't have proper visuals from them, and the only ones I can get are for extremely limited character creators like Picrew, but I soon realize it's really hard to design Danganronpa designs that are actually appealing

And in some cases, they overlap like crazy

For example, I've been trying to differentiate my Ultimate Lawyer, my Ultimate Debater, and my Ultimate Entrepreneur from just being people with suits.

At the same time, I'm generally not a fan of ultra over-the-top design unless that's specifically the point of the character.

Idk, I feel like it's just hard to be original in that specific regard

How do you all, particularly those who can't/don't know how to draw, deal with a proper, clear image in your mind of your character? How do you do when the talents (aka, the main inspiration of most designs) overlap a little? How do you bring them life and differentiation without making them look stupid?

Bonus question: For those making Danganronpas with original characters made by them, how do you name them? Do you go for Japanese names to follow how the Japanese franchise has always done? Or do you just name it whatever? Are your characters even from Japan, or is something completely different?

I'm currently using Japanese names cause that felt logical to me, but ngl, I sometimes feel like this
