Tires came used with the car so not entirely sure how many laps/heat cycles on them but I personally have put over 100 laps on these over 6 heat cycles. Still was cranking out solid times till the end
I have had very high oil consumption on my OM642 Sprinter Engine, turbo is new, no leaks and no oil in the turbo intake, CEL for high DPF Regeneration Frequency so it is burning oil. I pulled the glow plugs to throw a borescope to inspect internals and found there to be a lot of very thick oil on Cylinders #1 and #2. (This picture is from #2) The rest of the cylinders had very normal appearance. I did not get a chance to put the borescope down as the camera was too big to fit in the glow plug ports unfortunately.
My initial thought is these two cylinders have stuck oil rings and will need a full rebuild to fix the oil consumption issue. Before I swing that big is there any chance it's not the rings and could be solved with a more simple solution?
Thanks in advance!
2011 Sprinter 310,000 miles, new turbo at 300,000, no oil leaks, high DPF Regeneration, very high oil consumption, no oil present in the turbo intake.
