Do I need to carbonate at a higher PSI if not refrigerating?
I just started my first brew. I set everything up to start carbonating water for a week so I can make homemade sodas. I am keeping the keg in my basement, my fridge is nowhere near large enough to fit it, and I don’t have room for another fridge upstairs, and there is no outlet for one in my basement. I am currently trying it at 28 PSI for my first batch.
I’ve read in a couple places that if I’m not refrigerating my keg while it’s carbonating, I will have to do it at a *much* higher pressure (like 43-48 PSI), but those places aren’t very reliable, and I have not seen it mentioned anywhere else, so I’m unsure. If it’s relevant, my basement is usually a couple degrees cooler than the rest of my house, and for the next week it should stay between 60° and 70° F.
I really do not want to brew this for a week and then drink flat soda, or have it not set up for *another* week - So is there any basis to these pressure claims? Can I just leave it the same pressure?
